Jose Berrios is on the Wild Card roster for the Twins. Ervin Santana will start Tuesday against the Yankees, but Berrios provides some quality insurance just in case. Ideally he'd be lined up to start Game 1 of the ALDS, should the Twins advance. The Twins are carrying 11 pitchers for the Wild Card game with slugger Miguel Sano not active.

Jose Berrios will make a relief appearance Friday. And he obviously won't start Saturday as previously scheduled, as the Twins want to prepare him to be available in relief for next week's Wild Card game. Aaron Slegers will start Saturday against the Tigers instead.

Jose Berrios had a rough outing Tuesday versus the Yankees, allowing three runs over just 3 1/3 innings of work. Berrios admitted after his last start that he was feeling fatigued, and he wasn’t sharp in this one. He needed a whopping 90 pitches to get through his 3 1/3 frames, giving up five hits and walking four batters. Berrios has made a big leap forward this season, but it’s going to be hard for fantasy owners to trust him these last couple weeks. He faces the Tigers on the road on Sunday.

Jose Berrios admitted after Thursday's start versus the Blue Jays that he's feeling fatigued. Berrios tied a season high with four walks Thursday, although he gave up only one run in his 5 2/3 frames. He's at 175 2/3 innings for the season between the majors and minors, which is a little past what he's thrown each of the last two years. Twins manager Paul Molitor said after the game of Berrios that "we don't want to push him too far. We just tell him to give us what he can." It's not what Berrios' fantasy owners want to hear, especially with a matchup in the Bronx against the Yankees coming up next.

Jose Berrios pitched well in a no-decision against the Blue Jays on Thursday, allowing just one run on five hits across 5 2/3 innings. Berrios fanned five on the night while issuing four free passes. The only blemish on his night came on an RBI single by Josh Donaldson in the fifth inning. He had been in line for the victory until Matt Belisle's blown save in the ninth inning. The 23-year-old now sits at 12-7 with a 3.84 ERA and 1.18 WHIP on the season. He'll do battle against the Yankees in New York his next time out on Tuesday.
