Justin Wilson News

Justin Wilson    R  Tigers

Justin Wilson rebounded from a blown save his last time out, working a scoreless ninth inning against the Twins on Friday to earn his 11th save of the season. Wilson did walk a batter, but was able to escape with his two-run lead intact. he has been lights-out this season, compiling a 2.68 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 51/15 K/BB ratio in 37 innings of work. He's extremely likely to be on the move prior to next week's trade deadline, so every clean outing does nothing but increase his overall trade value.

USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports that the Brewers have been "aggressive" in trade talks for Justin Wilson. Other teams have been as well, of course, with Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reporting earlier this week that 10-12 clubs were in on the left-handed reliever. Wilson seems likelier to set up than close wherever he winds up, and that would be the case in Milwaukee.

Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press hears that Justin Wilson is drawing interest from 10-12 teams. That's not a shock given Wilson's numbers this year (2.29 ERA, 50/13 K/BB ratio in 35 1/3 innings) and the desire for relief help around the league. Wilson will probably lose his closer status if he lands with a contender, which is unfortunate because he's been brilliant in the role for Detroit. The 29-year-old lefty is arbitration-eligible for the 2018 season with free agency coming in 2019.

Justin Wilson    R  Tigers

Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports that the Nationals continue to show interest in Tigers reliever Justin Wilson. The Nationals acquired Sean Doolittle and Ryan Madson from the Athletics on Sunday, but they aren't done upgrading their roster. According to Morosi, the club would like to add another reliever and possibly another starter, too. Wilson is one of the most popular names on the trade market so far, with the Rays and Astros among the other teams in the mix.

Justin Wilson    R  Tigers

Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Rays have expressed "legit interest" in Tigers reliever Justin Wilson and that there is "some traction" in talks. The Rays sit at 49-44, tops in the Wild Card race and three games back in the American League East. They have made improving their bullpen a priority, as FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal hears that they were involved in talks for Sean Doolittle and have also been linked to Pat Neshek. Wilson, 29, is 10-for-11 in save chances this season with a 2.29 ERA and 50/13 K/BB ratio over 35 1/3 innings. The southpaw is under team control through 2018, so he's a nice trade chip for Detroit.

Justin Wilson    R  Tigers

Justin Wilson picked up his 10th save of the season on Sunday, recording the final five outs to protect a two-run advantage over the Indians. Wilson walked a batter in the eighth inning and surrendered a two-out single to Bradley Zimmer in the ninth, but was able to avoid any damage. An extremely popular name in trade rumors, it looks increasingly-likely that Wilson will be wearing a new uniform before July is through.

According to Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press, the Dodgers and Nationals are among several teams interested in trading for Justin Wilson. The Astros and Cubs have also sent high-level scouts to follow Wilson over the past month. The Tigers are fading fast in the AL Central and will probably be sellers at the trade deadline. Wilson has been brilliant this year, holding opponents to a miserable .157 average with 48 strikeouts in 115 at-bats. He'd make a ton of sense for the Nats, who have been cycling through closers for the better part of three months. The Nats have also been linked to Brad Hand, Raisel Iglesias, Pat Neshek and David Robertson.
