United States manager Jim Leyland said that Nate Jones will not be available for Wednesday's World Baseball Classic final against Puerto Rico. Jones threw 19 pitches in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Japan. While he will not be available for Wednesday's championship tilt, Leyland said that all other bullpen hands will be ready to rock 'n' roll as the United States tries to secure its first win in the finals of the spring tournament. The game is set to begin at 9:00 EST.

Alexi Amarista    2B  Rockies

 

 

Alexi Amarista exited Wednesday's Cactus League game against the Indians after being hit by a Boone Logan pitch on the left wrist/forearm. Per the Denver Post's Patrick Saunders, after leaving the game, Amarista was walking around the dugout and did not seem to be in pain. This would appear to indicate that there is no major injury at play, here. The Rockies figure to clarify his status one way or another in the coming hours. Amarista signed with the club on a one-year, $1.25 million contract in mid-January.

Christian Walker    1B  Reds

 

 

Reds optioned 1B/OF Christian Walker to Triple-A Louisville. Walker has had himself a busy few weeks of late, as the Orioles designated him for assignment on February 21, after which he was claimed off waivers from the Braves on February 25. Atlanta subsequently designated him for assignment only for the Reds to pick the 25-year-old up off waivers on March 6. Plying his trade for Triple-A Norfolk in the Orioles' system last season, he slashed .264/.321/.437 with 18 homers and 64 RBI across 131 games played.
