Wade Miley    S  Orioles

Wade Miley took a loss after giving up four runs -- three earned -- in five innings against the Blue Jays on Wednesday. He surrendered solo homers to Jose Bautista and Justin Smoak. The last two runs scored on a bases-loaded, fielder's choice grounder marred by a throwing error. Miley issued four walks, struck out four batters and allowed a total of six hits. He falls to 3-6 with a 4.54 ERA and scary 1.66 WHIP.

Freddie Freeman    1B  Braves

Freddie Freeman (wrist) took batting practice on Wednesday. This was the first time Freeman has taken batting practice since fracturing his left wrist. So long as he does not feel any discomfort over the next two days, he is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Saturday. The third-baseman-to-be hopes to be activated from the disabled list on July 6. That would be a fantastic turnaround on the recovery front given that he was initially expected to be out until August or close to it.

Kris Bryant    3B  Cubs

Kris Bryant left Wednesday's game against the Nationals due to a possible right ankle injury. Bryant was tracking a pop up in the fifth inning when he tripped over third base. He was noticeably limited while he subsequently trudged to the clubhouse with the trainer. The Cubs should pass along an update on the severity of Bryant's injury in due time.

Kris Bryant left Wednesday's game against the Nationals due to a possible right ankle injury. This one came out of seemingly nowhere. Bryant caught a foul pop up in the fifth inning right at the third base bag, but then turned his right ankle after taking a step on the bag while walking back into the infield. He was noticeably limited while he subsequently trudged to the clubhouse with the trainer. The Cubs should pass along an update on the severity of Bryant's injury in due time.

Mark Melancon    R  Giants

Mark Melancon (elbow) received a PRP injection on Wednesday. While Melancon just landed on the disabled list with a right pronator strain in his elbow, the PRP shot was actually administered in his forearm. He has now been placed on the disabled list twice with elbow issues this season. The Giants are well out of contention and have no reason to rush him back, so expect them to treat this recurrence with caution. Sam Dyson will close for San Francisco while Melancon is out of commission.

Andrew Knapp    C  Phillies

Andrew Knapp went 2-for-3 with a go-ahead RBI single in Wednesday's win over the Mariners. Knapp rocked an RBI single off Edwin Diaz with two outs in the ninth inning to snap a 4-4 tie. The backup catcher is hitting a modest .250/.342/.385 with three homers and 10 RBI across 104 at-bats, but will have at least one fun little moment to look back on when all is said and done this season.

Tommy Joseph    1B  Phillies

Tommy Joseph cracked a game-tying solo home run in the ninth inning of Wednesday's win over the Mariners. Joseph socked a no-doubt solo shot off Edwin Diaz to lead off the ninth inning, tying up the game in the process. The Phillies would later pick up a go-ahead RBI single from Andrew Knapp and go on to win 5-4. For his part, Joseph is now hitting .250/.312/.449 with 13 homers and 38 RBI in 72 games played. He has gone yard in three of his last six games.
