Melky Cabrera    OF  Blue Jays

Cabrera was pulled for a pinch hitter while he received medical attention on his left wrist during Saturday's game against the Indians, Scot Gregor of the Daily Herald reports.

Kevin Pillar    OF  Blue Jays

Kevin Pillar finished 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's game against the Blue Jays. Pillar pushed his hitting streak to 10 games. He is hitting .372 (16-for-43) during the impressive stretch, raising his average from .231 to .319 since April 11. Devon Travis struggled in the leadoff role, but Pillar has stepped up since taking over and been a bright spot in an otherwise dreary opening month for the Jays.

Apr 23 - 2:55 AM

Bud Norris    R  Angels

Bud Norris allowed a single in a scoreless ninth inning for his first save of the season Saturday against the Blue Jays. Norris needed just six pitches in the tidy effort, throwing five for strikes, filling in rather admirably for the injured Cam Bedrosian (groin). If Norris continues to serve in the closer's role with Bedrosian on the shelf he would have some nice short-term fantasy appeal in AL-only play.

Apr 23 - 2:51 AM

Tyler Skaggs    S  Angels

Tyler Skaggs allowed just two earned runs while scattering seven hits and two walks over seven innings to earn his first win Saturday against the Blue Jays. Skaggs struck out four batters in the 100-pitch quality start, throwing 63 of his pitches for strikes. He has back-to-back quality starts while striking out 13 batters over his past 14 frames. If he is able to cobble together a win streak with another quality start or two he might be worth a look in deeper mixed fantasy play. He is slated to face the Athletics at the Big A on Thursday in another favorable matchup.

Apr 23 - 2:47 AM

Andrelton Simmons    SS  Angels

Andrelton Simmons finished 2-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's win against the Blue Jays. Simmons entered the game with a total of three RBI over his first 17 games so don't get terribly excited over his power potential. He remains nothing more than a useful middle infielder option in AL-only play for his solid average, handful of steals and occasional RBI.

Apr 23 - 2:42 AM

Jarrod Saltalamacchia    C  Blue Jays

Jarrod Saltalamacchia was hitless in four at-bats with two more strikeouts in Saturday's game against the Angels. Salty is hitless in each of his past 13 at-bats, striking out 12 times in 18 at-bats overall since having his contract purchased from Triple-A Buffalo back in early April. The veteran struggled with a .171 average with 104 strikeouts over 246 at-bats with the Tigers last season and he appears to have picked up right where he left off.

Apr 23 - 2:35 AM

Jose Bautista    OF  Blue Jays

Jose Bautista was hitless in four at-bats with a strikeout in Saturday's game against the Angels. Joey Bats smacked his first homer of the season in Friday's series opener, but it was back to scuffling on Saturday. He has struck out at least once in eight straight outings, whiffing 25 times over 65 at-bats. Bautista's struggles are a major reason while the Blue Jays are in the basement in the American League East while failing to record consecutive wins at any point this season.

Apr 23 - 2:32 AM

Justin Smoak    1B  Blue Jays

Justin Smoak finished 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the ninth inning in Saturday's loss against the Angels. The switch hitter has hit safely in three straight while delivering six RBI over the past five outings. He has been starting regularly and is worth using as a corner infielder in most AL-only fantasy formats.

Apr 23 - 2:29 AM

Casey Lawrence    R  Blue Jays

Casey Lawrence allowed five runs - four earned - and eight hits with three walks and four strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a loss Saturday against the Angels. Lawrence is getting a chance to fill in for the injured JA Happ (elbow), but he isn't making the most of the opportunity. It wouldn't be surprising to see the plug pulled with T.J. House and Mat Latos potential veteran options. Lawrence does not warrant fantasy consideration in any format at this time.

Apr 23 - 2:25 AM

Ryan Schimpf    3B  Padres

Ryan Schimpf was hitless over five at-bats with three strikeouts in Saturday's game against the Marlins. Schimpf's average tumbled to a season-low .109 and he has struck out seven times over his past 13 at-bats while whiffing 22 times in 55 at-bats. The middle infielder swatted 20 homers with 42 extra-base hits over 89 games last season, but he also struggled with a dismal .217 average with 105 strikeouts over 276 at-bats. Schimpf's poor average and strikeout totals are certainly not a surprise.
