According to veteran forward Chris Neil, Senators head coach Guy Boucher was the one that didn't want to re-sign him.
"I have a lot of respect for (assistant GM) Randy (Lee) and (GM) Pierre (Dorion) … I think, if it was up to them, I’d be back," said Neil. "But they kind of put it in the coach’s hands and that had a lot to do with it. For whatever reason, Guy never really gave me the chance to show I can play." The veteran doesn't want to retire just yet, but he might have a hard time finding work in a league that values skill and speed. He might be forced to accept a PTO from another team if he wants to be in training camp next year.
