Courtney Lee News

Courtney Lee    G/F  Grizzlies

Courtney Lee scored nine points with two rebounds, three assists, one steal and one 3-pointer in 31 minutes against the Thunder on Thursday. Coach Jeff Horacek sounded confident that Lee could hold up as an undersized three. He said he could guard bigger small forwards and that he likes the idea of opposing threes chasing him around off screens. Lee has been fairly efficient, he can make treys and he should be decent in other stats, so he could be a low-demand asset in standard leagues.

Ramon Sessions, Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee, Kristaps Porzingis and Enes Kanter will start against the Thunder on Thursday. Coach Jeff Hornacek said he liked Lee at the three and he'll start him off against Carmelo Anthony and Paul George. Lee is usually a high-floor guy in fantasy, so he could be worth owning, especially in deep leagues.

Coach Jeff Hornacek said he likes the idea of starting Courtney Lee alongside Tim Hardaway Jr. He did add that it could be tough to start this wing combo in some matchups against bigger lineups. "Yeah I think defensively they're able to scramble and help each other out and they can switch," Hornacek said. Lee looks like the heavy favorite to get the start on opening night. Plus, it helps he does have some point guard experience, especially with Frank Ntilikina (knee) progressing slowly. Lee will be a low-demand target in drafts, but he has an excellent shot to be a top-100 player in standard leagues.

Courtney Lee scored 12 points with four rebounds, one assist and four 3-pointers in a start against the Wizards on Friday. While he is a little undersized as a possible starter, Lee brings a lot of what the Knicks need in their first unit. He has experience as a ball handler, he can bury treys, defend 1-3, and he's usually efficient. Almost nobody in your league will be after Lee, so you can sneak him at 150 and he almost certainly will return that kind of value and possible more.

Courtney Lee has emerged as an early favorite to start at small forward for the Knicks this season. Lee will be battling with Michael Beasley and Doug McDermott for the starting three-spot at training camp, and this is a position battle we'll be watching closely. Lee's probably the best defensive player out of this group, but he is a bit undersized for the small forward position at 6-foot-5, although that is less of an issue in today's positionless NBA. While Lee could start, he doesn't offer a ton of upside, so he's more of a late-round target in deep leagues.

Al Iannazzone of Newsday is reporting that the Knicks "aren't looking to move" Courtney Lee. It had been rumored that New York was shopping Lee earlier this offseason, and those rumors intensified when the Knicks signed Tim Hardaway Jr. to a mammoth $71 million offer sheet, which Atlanta is not expected to match. However, the Newsday report states that New York is willing to hold onto both shooting guards and "plan to play [Lee] and Hardaway together." The Hawks have until midnight on Saturday to make a decision on Hardaway.
