DeMar DeRozan (rest) will not play against the Blazers on Thursday. It's just a day off for the All-Star wing. Perhaps we get a look at Norman Powell in this game while there should be some shots to go around.

DeMar DeRozan scored 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting during Tuesday's exhibition, adding three boards, four assists, one 3-pointer, one steal and one turnover in 23 minutes. DeRozan is no longer a one-trick pony, as he can offer fantasy owners some dimes and steals, and he reportedly is looking to add a 3-point shot to his repertoire this season. He shouldn't have much trouble flirting with top-45 value this year, and if he can truly add that 3-point shot, he could work his way into the top-30 conversation.

DeMar DeRozan said that he hit 450 out of 700 (64 percent) 3-point attempts during a late-night workout. It's a bit of a non-story, but we can't be picky in late July. Hitting a triple in an empty gym obviously doesn't compare to shooting in a real game, but it's at least encouraging that he's focused on his perimeter shot -- that's the missing piece to the puzzle of his fantasy game with career averages of 0.4 treys on a 28.1 percent clip. We've also heard coach Dwane Casey say he wants DeRozan to handle the ball a bit more as a PG next season, so it sounds like the 27-year-old wing is poised for another strong campaign.

Coach Dwane Casey said he may have DeMar DeRozan "handle the ball a bit more as a point guard" next season. Casey has talked about DeRozan adding more treys, so this isn't the first new responsibility for him. "We don’t want to give our whole ‘what we’re going to try to do next year’ away, but again it comes down to passing the basketball and better spacing more so, than we know, one-on-one play," Casey said. The Raptors are a little thinner on the perimeter with Cory Joseph and DeMarre Carroll gone, so there will be some new wrinkles in their offense. This likely won't affect DeRozan too much on the stat sheet and he should hang around four assists per game for the fifth straight season.

DeMar DeRozan said he believes the Raptors need to add more shooters this offseason in order to improve. Toronto ranked 21st in total 3-point makes during the regular season 2016-17 season. "You look at Kyle Korver and the display he put on. You stretch the floor, space the floor when you have more shooters," said DeRozan. "The more you have, your team becomes deadlier." One possible solution would be DeRozan expanding his range out to the 3-points stripe. He made a total of just 33 treys this season. In comparison, Sixers center Joel Embiid made 36 triples in just 31 games this season.

Dwane Casey will encourage DeMar DeRozan to add the 3-point shot to his arsenal this offseason. "It's no secret that the next evolution of [DeRozan's] game is [three-point shooting]," said Casey. DeRozan scored a career-high 27.3 points per game this past season, but he also shot just 26.6 percent from beyond the arc while contributing a measly 0.4 triples per contest. He's a career 28.1 percent shooting from 3-point range, but if he could make that a relevant aspect of his game, then he could definitely creep his way into the top-30 equation.
