Deyonta Davis News

Deyonta Davis    F  Grizzlies

Deyonta Davis returned from a three-game absence with a sore knee and played 18 minutes off the bench, finishing with eight points, five boards and nothing else, hitting 4-of-4 shots from the floor in Wednesday's loss. Marc Gasol was in foul trouble and the Grizzlies, literally, have nothing left to play for. It makes sense for them to shut Gasol down and let Davis play the rest of the way, but there have been no indications that they plan on doing that. They're 13.5 games or so out of the playoff hunt, so there's a decent chance Davis could get a ton of run after the All-Star break. He's a stash candidate, at least worth keeping a close eye on in case the Grizzlies decide to change course and play the kids.

Deyonta Davis (knees) is not listed on the injury report for Wednesday's game vs. OKC. Davis has missed three straight games, but appears to be on track to return Wednesday night vs. the Thunder. With Brandan Wright bought out, Davis could see additional minutes over the final two months of the season, as long as he can stay healthy.

Deyonta Davis (right knee, left knee) will not play on Sunday against the Thunder. He probably had the inside track for the backup center minutes with Brandan Wright gone, but this knee soreness will now keep him out for at least three straight games. With him out, it'll be more Ivan Rabb and Jarell Martin getting frontcourt minutes.

Deyonta Davis (sore knees) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Jazz. Davis was "available to play" on Sunday, but didn't actually step foot on the court, so Wednesday will mark his second straight game on the sidelines. Brandan Wright could pick up some extra minutes in the rotation with Davis unavailable, but that means very little with Marc Gasol healthy.

Davis has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Hawks due to left and right knee soreness. Davis will get Tuesday's game off as he continues to nurse soreness in both of his knees. The 21-year-old is averaging 16.6 minutes over his last 11 games, so Jarell Martin and Brandan Wright could be in line for some increased run in his absence. His next chance to return will come Wednesday against the Jazz.

Davis had just two points on 1-of-3 shooting while adding two blocks and one rebound in 20 minutes during Sunday's 101-86 loss to Toronto. Davis saw 20 minutes of action Sunday, scoring just two points and adding two blocks. While there is nothing much to see here, a point of interest is that he saw some court time next to Marc Gasol. The Grizzlies are in full rebuild mode and are likely going to see what their young guys can offer them. If they decide to play Davis a bit more at the power forward position, this could add to his value. He possesses more upside than JaMychal Green and if given the opportunity, could be worth a flier in deeper formats.

Deyonta Davis (knees) is available for Sunday's game vs. the Raptors. He had 12 points with eight rebounds, one assist and one block in 15 minutes in his last game and should see his normal allotment of minutes behind Marc Gasol. He's just a deep-league asset for now, but does have some stash appeal in case the Grizzlies move Gasol this week.

Davis (knee) is listed as probable on the injury report for Sunday's game against the Raptors. The designation may just be precautionary, but Davis' status is nonetheless something to monitor over the next 24 hours. Davis missed Wednesday's loss to the Pacers, but he returned to play 15 minutes and finish with 12 points and eight rebounds on Thursday against Detroit.

Meanwhile, I'm continuing to worry about Deyonta Davis. Has not gotten over the hump and is regressing, if anything.
