According to Spurs reporter Jabari Young, San Antonio is expected to pursue free agent PG George Hill. Hill was one of coach Gregg Popovich's favorite players before he was shipped off to Indiana in the deal for Kawhi Leonard, and Young adds that Hill has "long desired" to reunite with Pop. Hill still has a residence in San Antonio and works out at the team's practice facility often, so this seems like a credible report. The Spurs haven't made contact with Hill's camp yet, but they are expected to when free agency begins on July 1. The Spurs have also been linked to Chris Paul and surprisingly Derrick Rose, so point guard seems like a focus for the franchise with Tony Parker (quad) out until at least January and Patty Mills hitting the open market.

Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey said he is confident that Utah will be able to re-sign George Hill. "There’s a very good chance, we’re each other’s best option come July," Lindsey said of Hill. However, Lindsey did acknowledge that if Hill got an exorbitant offer, Utah might not be able to match it. "I told him if he gets a crazy offer somewhere else and we helped him get that offer, 'you’re not going to get one poor thought, much less a word (from us)’ if he were to go," Lindsey said. "He helped us." Three of Utah's most important players, Hill, Gordon Hayward and Joe Ingles, are all set to hit free agency in July.

George Hill said that he's hoping to re-sign with the Jazz this summer. "I really enjoyed playing with the guys here. I think we created a heck of a bond" Hill said. "Let’s stay together, build on what we’ve done this year. Hopefully we can do that." A report in early March by Tim MacMahon of ESPN indicated that Hill's camp is seeking a four-year deal worth $132 million, so a return to Utah is going to be difficult with Gordon Hayward and Joe Ingles also hitting free agency. Hill recently turned 31 and missed a total of 36 games if you include the playoffs, so handing out that type of money will be a massive gamble.

George Hill said that he will only need rest, not need offseason surgery, to repair his injured toe. Hill stated that team doctors advised him to sit out longer when he first sustained the injury earlier in the season, but that he wanted to play. Hill missed a total of 36 games this season, including the playoffs. 16 of those were due to the toe. He said he was not worried that the injury-plagued 2016-17 season would make him less attractive in free agency because the toe issue was a "freak accident." Where Hill signs this summer will obviously have a significant impact on his fantasy value going forward.

George Hill (toe) won't play in Game 4 vs. the Warriors on Monday according to Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune. Coach Quin Snyder recently talked about how Hill wouldn't be effective if he was less than 100 percent in this series, so the writing was on the wall. With Hill out for the third straight game, Shelvin Mack will likely draw another start and will try to help the Jazz avoid a sweep on their home court. In his last two starts, Mack averaged 12.5 points, 4.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 2.0 triples.

Jazz coach Quin Snyder said it made sense to hold George Hill out for Games 2 and 3 because his toe injury "greatly impacts" his "effectiveness on the floor." "It's really just more a question of his effectiveness and his toe," Snyder said. "He's missed games for this over the course of the season. And what happens is as he's playing, there are situations in the game that happen where he lands on it and pushes off and it just aggravates it. It aggravates it to a point where he's just not able to be effective." Hill is currently considered questionable for Game 4 on Monday, though Snyder was non-commital when asked about his status. If he's out again, expect Shelvin Mack to benefit the most with Dante Exum and Raul Neto fighting for scraps off the bench.

George Hill (toe) is questionable to play in Game 4 against the Warriors on Monday. We'll have a better idea on Hill's status based on his activity level during Monday morning's shootaround, but if he is forced to spend another game on the sidelines, Shelvin Mack figures to earn another start with Dante Exum and Raul Neto backing him up.
