Hassan Whiteside News

Hassan Whiteside    F/C  Heat

Hassan Whiteside (knee) won't travel for Miami's two-game road trip this week. This means he won't play against Atlanta on Monday or Boston on Wednesday. That would make 11 straight games on the sidelines for the big man and there's still no timetable for his return. "He is feeling better but he’s not quite ready to play," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. The earliest we will see Whiteside back is on Friday vs. Dallas, but in the meantime, Kelly Olynyk, Bam Adebayo and Jordan Mickey will hold down the fort with James Johnson (ankle) and Justise Winslow (knee) also banged up.

Whiteside (knee) will not travel with the Heat on their upcoming two-game road trip. Whiteside had already been ruled out for Saturday's contest, and the team has now preemptively confirmed that he'll miss at least two additional games. That means Whiteside, who continues to nurse a bone bruise in his left knee, will return to action no sooner than next Friday (Dec. 22) in Dallas.

Whiteside (knee) will not play Saturday against the Clippers, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports. As expected, Whiteside will continue to be sidelined by a bone bruise in his left knee. Saturday will mark nine straight absences, and it remains unclear when, exactly, Whiteside might return to action. The big man participated in some on-court work earlier in the week, and coach Erik Spoelstra noted that Whiteside has returned to conditioning work, as well. "He's been working out two, sometimes three times a day," Spoelstra said. "A lot of corrective work, a lot of lifting, a lot of conditioning."

Whiteside (knee) took part in some on-court work Thursday, but has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Hornets, Anthony Chiang of the Palm Beach Post reports. Whiteside will be missing an eighth straight game Friday, though the fact that he's now doing some on-court work is encouraging for a return in the near future. He's expected to be reevaluated when the team returns home following Friday's contest, which is when we should get a more concrete timetable for his recovery. At this point, it wouldn't be surprising if Whiteside also missed Saturday's tilt with the Clippers. Kelly Olynyk should continue to start in his place and see an increased role, with Bam Adebayo seeing an uptick in minutes off the bench.

Hassan Whiteside (left knee bone bruise) won't travel with the Heat for Friday's game in Charlotte. The good news is that Whiteside went through some on-court work on Thursday, and he's now two weeks into his initial 1-2 week timetable. Kelly Olynyk and Bam Adebayo will continue to split the center minutes on Friday, but we'll consider Whiteside questionable to return for Saturday's home game vs. the Clippers.

Coach Erik Spoelstra said Hassan Whiteside (knee) is making progress, but added that he doesn't have a timetable. "Let’s make no assumptions about that," Spoelstra said. "He’s doing a lot better. He’s been working out two, sometimes three, times per day. A lot of corrective work, a lot of lifting, a lot of conditioning." The Heat said back on Nov. 30 that Whiteside will miss 1-2 weeks, but it's now been two full weeks. Whiteside was re-evaluated on Wednesday night to see if he can get clearance for on-court work, so hopefully we'll have another update soon. Kelly Olynyk and Bam Adebayo will continue to hold down the fort in his absence.

Hassan Whiteside (left knee bone bruise) is listed as out for Wednesday's game vs. Portland. Back on November 30th, the Heat announced that Whiteside would miss 1-2 weeks with the injury. This Thursday will mark two weeks since that pronouncement. We should expect an update from the team shortly regarding his status for the rest of the week. Kelly Olynyk and Bam Adebayo will continue to divvy up minutes at center for Miami.

Whiteside (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Trail Blazers, Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports. Whiteside will officially be missing his seventh straight game, as he's yet to be cleared from a bone bruise in his left knee. He was originally given a 1-to-2 week timetable for a return and Thursday represents the two-week mark, so there's a chance he's then cleared ahead of Friday's matchup with the Hornets. That said, Whiteside should be considered questionable for that contest and he'd likely need to take part in at least portions of Thursday's practice in order to be given the go ahead to return. Look for Kelly Olynk and Bam Adebayo to continue to get the bulk of the center workload in his place.

Hassan Whiteside (left knee bone bruise) has been ruled out for Miami's upcoming three-game road trip. Whiteside will be spending the next 1-2 weeks on the sidelines as he rehabs the bone bruise in his left knee, and he's hinted that his absence could extend beyond that as he himself said he won't be coming back until he's "totally 100 percent." With Whiteside out, Bam Adebayo will start at the five-spot and there will be more minutes for Kelly Olynyk, while Dion Waiters, Josh Richardson and Goran Dragic will be tasked with the heavy lifting on offense.

Whiteside (knee) will not join the Heat on their upcoming three-game road trip, which starts Wednesday against the Spurs and ends Monday against the Grizzlies, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports. Whiteside continues to be sidelined with a bone bruise in his left knee, which he was diagnosed with in late November. He's missed three games already, in which Bam Adebayo and Kelly Olynyk have been filling in at center. Adebayo has averaged 6.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals in those three games. Olynyk has averaged 14.0 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists over that stretch. Both players should continue to see expanded roles while Whiteside remains out.
