Ian Clark News

Ian Clark is hopeful that he can earn more consistent playing time with the Pelicans this season. "Being able to show what I can do in the minutes I get, I want to be able to expand on that this year," said Clark. "I want to show that I can do that in extended minutes and be consistent at it, and help my team win, whether that’s on the defensive or offensive end." Clark may see a slight increase in his minutes this upcoming season, but as long as Rajon Rondo and Jrue Holiday are healthy, he won't be on the floor enough to make a meaningful impact in fantasy hoops.

Pelicans sign G Ian Clark. The Pelicans got a bargain on their hands and add some much-needed shooting. While Clark is too small to guard twos and he's likely not going to be a ball-handler, his range will help as the Pelicans attempt to adjust their scheme to be more like the Nuggets. Clark could compete for a rotation spot, but he'll likely need some players to miss time to have fantasy value in most leagues.

Ian Clark has agreed to a one-year deal to join the Pelicans. Arguably the top free agent PG left on the market, Clark had to settle for a $1.6 million deal (he was looking for $8 million at the start of free agency), but he has a nice opportunity to increase his value for the Summer of 2018. The Pelicans plan to start both Rajon Rondo and Jrue Holiday in the backcourt, but Clark should be able to carve out a decent role as a combo guard off the bench. He shot 37.4 percent from 3-point range last season, so his floor spacing will be key for their superstar frontcourt of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins. The Pelicans will also have to find minutes for Jordan Crawford and E'Twaun Moore, so Clark's value may be limited to deeper fantasy leagues.

Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald said Ian Clark's "skills are appreciated by the Heat." The Heat do have an open roster spot, but they already have quality depth at PG in Goran Dragic and Tyler Johnson. Josh Richardson has proved that he can fill in there as well. Clark was initially looking for a deal in the $8 million per year range, but there aren't many teams with cap space left. The Heat do have a $4.3 million exception that they could use, but there's been no real indication that they're ready to spend it on Clark.

The Wolves have interest in Ian Clark, according to Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN. This report adds that Clark has turned down minimum offers. A report from Tuesday said that the Lakers aren't in for Clark anymore, which would've made a ton of sense with his former coach Luke Walton. Clark is arguably the best point guard on the market and he would be a fantastic fit as a backup with the Wolves for his shooting.

Ian Clark is reportedly no longer an option for the Lakers. The Lakers got their backup point guard with the Tyler Ennis signing, so there's no need for them to pursue a deal with Clark. He should be able to find a contract somewhere after playing well in limited minutes with the Warriors last season, but Clark won't be a name worth monitoring in fantasy hoops.

The Lakers met with free agent Ian Clark for 45 minutes on Thursday afternoon. Clark played limited minutes for the Warriors last season, but was effective and efficient. He averaged a career-high 6.8 points, while shooting 48.7 percent from the floor and 37.4 percent from 3-point territory. The Lakers, who are looking to add point guard depth, also met with Derrick Rose on Thursday. L.A. has not yet offered Clark a contract.

The Lakers have interest in Ian Clark, according to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times. It makes sense for a lot of reasons. There are the obviously the ties between Clark and former Warriors coach Luke Walton, which is even more relevant because the Warriors have made it fairly clear they won't be able to bring Clark back. Clark does add some much-needed shooting for the Lakers and it'll help fill a massive hole at backup point guard. The Lakers have a good chance to come away with Derrick Rose or Clark.

Ian Clark and the Bucks reportedly have mutual interest. The Bucks need 3-point shooters and Clark hit 37.4 percent of his triples last season in Golden State with averages of 6.8 points, 1.6 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.5 steals. He also only played 14.8 minutes per game, but he would certainly be looking at a larger role in Milwaukee. Clark is reportedly seeking a deal for $8 million per season, and after the Warriors brought in Nick Young, it's safe to say his time in Golden State is over.
