Jamal Murray News

Jamal Murray tweaked his right ankle on Friday against the Magic, playing just 17 minutes with two points, three assists, one rebound and zero turnovers. Murray was "available" to return to the game, but Emmanuel Mudiay gave them a spark off the bench tonight with 18 points and five dimes. We'll put Murray on the injury report to be safe, but for now we'll consider him probable for Sunday's matchup vs. the Pacers. Murray has been inconsistent, but was averaging 21.7 points, 2.7 assists, 1.6 steals and 3.3 treys in his previous three.

Murray scored 22 points (7-12 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 4-4 FT) while adding a steal and a block in 28 minutes during Monday's 122-105 loss to the Mavericks. The Nuggets' backcourt trio of Murray, Gary Harris and Will Barton each scored more than 20 points but got very little help from the rest of the roster, as only Kenneth Faried joined them in double digits. Murray's snapped out of a 2-for-22 funk from three-point range by going 9-for-16 over his last two games, and he'll likely stay hot from beyond the arc Wednesday in a road game against a Pelicans team that has had plenty of trouble with its perimeter defense.

Jamal Murray hit 7-of-12 shots, 4-of-8 3-pointers and 4-of-4 free throws for 22 points, a steal and a block in 28 minutes of Monday's loss to the Mavericks. That's the good news, but the bad news is Murray didn't manage to grab a single board or hand out an assist. But he shot it well and the threes, block and steal are fantasy gold. He had 28 with five 3-pointers on Saturday, so hopefully he's ready to start dealing. If he was cut in your league, you have to think about grabbing him if you have someone to drop.

Murray poured in 28 points (8-20 FG, 5-8 3Pt, 7-8 FT), collected four rebounds, four assists, and two steals in 33 minutes Saturday in Denver's win over Los Angeles. Murray led the Nuggets in scoring Saturday with 28 points. His scoring got a considerable boost from his three-point shooting, connecting on five of eight attempts. Compare that to the last eight games, where Murray connected on only 14-percent of his three-point attempts. Consistency is the key to his fantasy value going forward. With star big man Nikola Jokic (ankle) out for the foreseeable future, Murray will be asked to shoulder the offensive load.

Jamal Murray filled it up during a 115-100 win over the Lakers on Saturday, scoring a game-high 28 points with four rebounds, four assists, two steals and five 3-pointers in 33 minutes. After he flopped against the Lakers on Nov. 19, Murray was pumped up on both sides of the ball. He's been maddeningly inconsistent this season, but now he should be looking at added usage and play-making chances with Nikola Jokic (ankle) on the shelf. If you look at his per-36 minute numbers in the 176 minutes without Jokic this season, you're looking at 21.2 points, 4.5 boards, 2.7 dimes, 1.0 steals and 2.0 treys. The Blue Arrow could use this added opportunity ahead to carry him the rest of the way, so his arrow should be pointing up.

Jamal Murray scored five points on 1-of-9 from the field with four rebounds, one assist and two turnovers in 31 minutes against the Bulls on Thursday. Bad game aside, it's still encouraging that coach Mike Malone closed with Murray in this game despite his awful shooting night. If Nikola Jokic (ankle) is out, that should help Murray get shots because he has a 28.3 usage rate in 143 minutes without Jokic this season -- 22.9 with him. He's still been up and down, but there's enough upside to hold him in most leagues.

Murray supplied 10 points (5-13 FG, 0-6 3Pt), two assists, one rebound and one steal across 29 minutes in Tuesday's 106-77 loss to the Jazz. Like most of his teammates, Murray's overall numbers were down on a night when the Nuggets were thoroughly stymied by the suffocating Jazz defense. The second-year point guard has scored in double digits in seven of the past eight games, a stretch that includes a pair of 30-point efforts. However, the majority of that success has been built on his work from in front of the arc, as Murray is shooting a forgettable 14.7 percent (5-for-34) from three-point range over the last seven contests.

Jamal Murray hit just 5-of-13 shots for 10 points and missed all six of his 3-pointers in Tuesday's ugly 106-77 loss to the Jazz. Murray added just one rebound, two assists and a steal, and was either making dazzling moves on his way to missing an open jumper or 3-pointer, firing a rushed 3-pointer off the backboard without hitting the rim, or getting his shot blocked by Ricky Rubio, of all people. Simply put, he's a better shooter and player than he's shown this season, but he can't get his 3-pointers to fall and is struggling with his shot in general. They should eventually start falling, but we wouldn't blame you if you've lost patience with him by now. Murray has gone 0-for-? from downtown in nine of his 20 games this season, which has to eventually change.

Jamal Murray scored eight points with seven rebounds, three assists and three turnovers in 24 minutes during a blowout loss to the Rockets on Wednesday. Chris Paul made him look pretty bad today, but Emmanuel Mudiay looked even worse. Paul Millsap was starting to handle the ball more with his assists trending up in a big way, so now the Nuggets will need someone else to create offense. Murray was the leading scorer on the team over the previous dozen, so now he may be able to add more to those stat lines.

Updating a previous note, the Nuggets will start Murray -- not Emmanuel Mudiay -- at point guard Wednesday against Houston, Gina Mizell of the Denver Post reports. Denver initially stated that Mudiay would make his first start of the season, but that decision was quickly reversed, and it will be Murray at point guard. Gary Harris will get the nod at the two, while Wilson Chandler, Will Barton and Nikola Jokic round out the starting five in the absence of Paul Millsap (wrist).
