Kawhi Leonard News

Kawhi Leonard    G/F  Spurs

Kawhi Leonard (quad) is probable to play Monday vs. the Clippers. Leonard was rested on the second half of a back-to-back set on Saturday, but he should be back out there working with a minutes limit on Monday night. It'll take more than a few weeks for him to get fully up to speed, so Leonard owners will need to exercise some extreme patience early on.

Leonard (rest) is listed as probable for Monday's game against the Clippers. Leonard received the night off for rest Saturday against the Mavericks, as the Spurs are looking to ease him back into the swing of things considering he's only played two games since returning from injury. That said, after getting the night off Saturday, Leonard is fully expected to be back Monday and should rejoin the starting lineup. He played just 16 and 17 minutes, respectively, in the two games since his return, so it wouldn't be surprising if Leonard once again had some restrictions if cleared as expected. That would also send Rudy Gay back to a bench role.

Coach Gregg Popovich said that "it's going to take some time" before he removes the minutes restriction on Kawhi Leonard. Leonard played just 17 minutes Friday night vs. Rockets, sitting out the entire second half, and will not play at all in Saturday's game vs. the Mavs. Coach Pop is also limiting Tony Parker and Danny Green's (groin) minutes. "It's a pain in the a--; for everybody," Popovich said. "The rotations are screwed up, and if a guy's only going to play for so many minutes, do you go to him the whole time to get him going, to get him back into the flow, and get his rust off?" Leonard has looked healthy, but the minutes cap will frustrate fantasy owners.

Leonard (quadriceps) will play Friday against the Rockets, but sit for Saturday's matchup versus the Mavericks, Tim MacMahon of ESPN.com reports. Leonard made his long awaited season debut in Tuesday's loss to the Mavericks. He logged 13 points (6-12 FG, 1-4 3PT), six rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block across 16 minutes. The star wing will likely remain on a minute restriction Friday, but it remains to be seen if there will be an increase. There is no surprise that the Spurs will opt to rest him on the second half of a back-to-back set. Rudy Gay will likely see increased run in Leonard's absence Saturday.

Kawhi Leonard will not play on Saturday vs. the Mavericks. Leonard is going to play limited minutes vs. the Rockets on Friday, but he's not cleared for back-to-back sets yet. As long as he makes it through Friday's game without any setbacks, he'll be in the lineup on Monday vs. the Clippers.

Kawhi Leonard (right quadriceps tendinopathy) is listed as probable for Friday's game vs. the Rockets. This is a marquee matchup with the No. 1 seed in the West, so it's hard to imagine Kawhi sitting out. The Spurs do play again on Saturday, though, so it's possible he'll pick up a DNP for that one -- regardless, owners should confirm Kawhi's status after San Antonio's shootaround.

Leonard (quad) is probable for Friday's game against the Rockets, Michael C. Wright of ESPN.com reports. Leonard made his season debut Tuesday, racking up 13 points, six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block in 16 minutes. He'll head into Friday with a probable tag, as he's likely experiencing some soreness following Tuesday's contest. More word on his status should emerge following morning shootaround.

Leonard (quad) posted 13 points (6-12 FG, 1-4 3Pt), six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block across 16 minutes in Tuesday's 95-89 loss to the Mavericks. Making his long-awaited season debut after missing the first 27 games, Leonard looked to be in mid-season form over his modest amount of time on the court. The perennial All-Star made his first three shots and scored six of the Spurs' first eight points overall. He called it a night for good in the third quarter and will certainly be in line for progressive increases in minutes over the next several games. His next opportunity to build on Tuesday's performance will come when the Spurs tangle with the Houston Rockets on Friday night.

Kawhi Leonard (quad) finally made his season debut on Tuesday and had 13 points, six rebounds, a steal, a block and a 3-pointer on 6-of-12 shooting despite playing just 16 minutes. It's been a long time coming for his owners and while Leonard's minutes and even games played (back-to-backs) are going to be shaky for a bit, he looked very good in his limited run. Get him in your lineups and watch for news on him daily, as it's probably going to be a bumpy ride for a few weeks. Welcome back, Kawhi!

Leonard (quad) will immediately join the starting lineup for his season debut Tuesday against the Mavericks, Michael C. Wright of ESPN reports. It was announced earlier Tuesday that Leonard would make his debut, but this latest update confirms he'll immediately rejoin the starting lineup. That said, the Spurs haven't provided any sort of clarification on a workload for Leonard, so it's unclear just how much playing time he'll see following a lengthy absence. It seems likely that Leonard will see some restrictions, which should make him a risky DFS play for Tuesday's slate. With Leonard back in the top unit, look for Rudy Gay to head to the bench and see a decreased role moving forward.
