Kristaps Porzingis News

Kristaps Porzingis said he was forcing things too much on offense during his cold shooting stretch. "I’m just trying to slow down mentally. That’s helping me know," Porzingis said. "I’m not thinking I need to score as much. I just want to be involved. When the shots come, I’m going to take them, and they’re going to be higher-percentage shots, not as many contested shots and not as much me fighting to get the bucket." Porzingis is adjusting to being the No. 1 guy in the offense, but with Tim Hardaway Jr. back, and Porzingis being more selective with his shots, his shooting percentages should start to trend upward.

Kristaps Porzingis scored 26 points with nine rebounds and two blocked shots across 27 minutes in Monday's 119-104 victory at Brooklyn. Porzingis was a solid 8-of-14 from the field, including 2-of-3 from behind the 3-point line, while adding 8-of-11 from the free-throw stripe. His minutes were somewhat limited dude to four personal fouls, but he obviously still had a very nice line. He had a much better time than his last outing aginst the Nets Dec. 14, when he left in the first half with a sore knee. In his previous two full games against Brooklyn he is averaging 28.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per outing. He'll get another crack at them at MSG on Jan. 30.

Kristaps Porzingis scored 25 points on 10-of-24 shooting Sunday, to go with six boards, four 3-pointers, three assists, five steals, two blocks and three turnovers in 44 minutes. Porzingis had a hot start to the game, but he cooled off after halftime, going 4-of-11 from the field through the second half of action and his usage rate also dipped to 24.5. The Knicks blew a 19-point lead, which was partly due to some miraculous play from Anthony Davis, but they also played fairly horribly as a team on the defensive end. Speaking of terrible defense, Enes Kanter finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, two blocks and one turnover in 36 minutes.

Porzingis tallied 17 points (6-19 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-4 FT), ten rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocked shots in 36 minutes during Friday's 118-108 loss to the Timberwolves. Porzingis posted a decent stat line despite a below-average shooting night. While he shot three-for-five from beyond the arc, he shot an overall 31.5 percent from the floor on Friday. Porzingis has had his share of struggles in recent weeks and has fallen a bit out of favor in DFS formats with record lows in salary and ownership. While the face of the Knocks franchise can't be faded entirely, the recent stat lines indicate a bit of a course correction for Porzingis' output. He's still a solid play in weekly leagues, but in DFS play he's become a bit more matchup-dependent.

Porzingis scored 24 points (11-24 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 0-4 FT) while adding six rebounds, four blocks and an assist in 44 minutes during Wednesday's 122-119 double-overtime loss to the Bulls. In a battle of young European power forwards, Porzingis was thoroughly outplayed by Lauri Markkanen, and KP's five turnovers and four missed free throws proved costly in the tight game. He's still averaging 21.7 points, 7.3 boards, 2.8 blocks and 1.3 three-pointers over his last 10 games since fully recovering from a knee injury, but as he showed at the beginning of the season, he's capable of much more.

Kristaps Porzingis scored 24 points with six rebounds, one assist and four blocks in a double-overtime loss to the Bulls on Wednesday. After the first quarter, he really disappeared in this game with only four points in the second, third and fourth quarters, but Porzingis did show up in overtime with a dunk at the buzzer (video in link below). He was 0-of-4 from the line in this game, but that seems like a fluke after going 17-of-18 in his previous three games. The Unicorn will be a stud as long as he's in the lineup.

Porzingis accounted for 29 points (9-25 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 8-8 FT), eight rebounds, one assist and one blocks in 38 minutes Sunday in New York's win over Dallas. Leading up to Sunday's matchup in Dallas, Porzingis had been in a New Year's slump. He provided a scoring boost, that the Knicks were in dire need of. He is the top scoring option for the Knicks, that isn't up for debate, but his lack efficiency leaves much to be desired. Porzingis has connected on only 33-percent of his field goal attempts through four games in January. His counting stats make him a strong fantasy option, but his lack of efficiency tends to keep him from reaching an elite level.

Kristaps Porzingis made 9-of-25 FGs and 8-of-8 FTs on Sunday, adding three 3-pointers to finish with 29 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one block in 38 minutes. The Knicks improved to 4-14 on the road with tonight's victory in Dallas, which concluded a three-game road trip. Porzingis recently lamented that he's "tired ... so tired," and that the mental aspect of losing makes it harder to fight through physical fatigue. He looked fine in big minutes tonight, but still hasn't made more than half his shots since Dec. 12, a span of 11 games. He gets a few days off before hosting the Bulls on Wednesday.

Kristaps Porzingis hit 5-of-14 shots for 15 points in Friday's 107-103 overtime loss to the Heat, adding seven rebounds, one assist, one steal, three blocks and one triple in 37 minutes. He recently admitted that he's "so tired," and you could tell down the stretch -- he wasn't aggressive when the Knicks needed him to be and he scored just six points in the fourth quarter and overtime combined. One of the concerns fantasy owners have about him is whether or not he can handle the grind of an 82-game season, so hopefully he can fight through the fatigue and stay healthy. He's shooting a combined 15-of-46 from the field in his last three games, but he does have a couple good matchups coming up against the Mavericks and Bulls.

Porzingis admitted after Wednesday's 121-103 loss to the Wizards that he's feeling fatigued after having to carry the offensive load for the Knicks for the past month while Tim Hardaway (leg) has been sidelined, Marc Berman of the New York Post reports. "I'm tired, I'm tired, I'm so tired right now,'" Porzingis said. "I have one day to rest my legs and get back and play better and have more energy and try to bring the team's energy up. We're in a tough stretch. The mental part doesn't help at all. When it's mentally tough, you don't have it in you." Porzingis' diminished effectiveness the last few games would seemingly support the idea that he's exhausted, as he was limited to just 16 points on 5-for-13 shooting -- including only two points in the second half -- on Wednesday. Since returning to action Dec. 21 following a two-game absence due to a knee injury, Porzingis is averaging 19.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.6 blocks, 1.3 assists and 1.0 three-pointer in 34.0 minutes per game while shooting a lowly 36 percent from the field. That production shouldn't result in season-long owners removing Porzingis from their lineup, but the 22-year-old doesn't look like an especially strong option in daily formats at the moment. With Hardaway targeting a return at some point in January, Porzingis could get the support he desperately needs before long.
