Lonzo Ball News

Lonzo Ball    G  Lakers

Lonzo Ball (left knee) is listed as out on the injury report for Tuesday's game vs. Phoenix. This was expected, as Ball was unable to practice with the team on Monday. Josh Hart has started each of the past two games for the Lakers and has posted double-doubles in each contest. Hart is averaging 14.5 points, 12.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 37.0 minutes over those two games. He's worth consideration as a streamer or DFS punt on Tuesday, assuming the Lakers confirm Ball is not playing.

Lakers head coach Luke Walton said Sunday that there's no indication that Ball (knee) is close to practicing Monday, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN.com reports. Though Ball hasn't been ruled out for game action beyond Sunday's 2:00 p.m. EST tilt with the Thunder, Walton's comments imply that the rookie point guard doesn't look like a safe bet to return to the court during the Lakers' upcoming three-game week. Walton said that even if Ball wakes up Monday feeling ready to ramp up activity, the Lakers would have him work out on the side before resuming full-speed, non-contact drills. According to Walton, Ball recently tried to increase his activity, but the Lakers opted to shut him down after he felt something in his sprained right MCL. Josh Hart is serving as the Lakers' starting point guard in Ball's stead, though forward Brandon Ingram has taken on a decent amount of Ball's ball-handling and play-making responsibilities.

Lonzo Ball is not expected to practice on Monday, so it's probably safe to rule him out for Tuesday's game vs. the Suns. Ball tried to test the injury in Toronto earlier in the week and "felt something," so the Lakers will continue to be cautious. Until he's able to go through full speed non-contact drills without a problem, Ball will continue to sit out practices. Josh Hart will draw his second straight start at PG on Sunday and is coming off a double-double in his previous outing.

Ball (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Nets and Sunday's matchup with the Thunder, Bill Oram of The Orange County Register reports. There has still been no report of Ball being able to go through a full practice as he continues to nurse a left knee sprain, and the Lakers have elected to just hold the rookie out for the remainder of their road trip as a result. Ball's next opportunity to return now won't be until the team returns home next Tuesday against the Suns, but the point guard will likely have to put together a full practice between now and then to have a real chance of doing so.

Lonzo Ball (left knee) will miss at least the next two games. He will miss Friday's game vs. the Nets and Sunday's game vs. the Thunder as the Lakers wrap up their five-game road trip. Ball hasn't returned to practice yet, but we keep hearing that he's making progress. They return to Los Angeles on Tuesday to take on the Suns, so maybe he makes it back for that one. Jordan Clarkson will continue to benefit in his absence and the Lakers will use this opportunity to showcase him for a potential trade -- they would like to clear as much salary as possible to prepare for free agency this summer.

Lonzo Ball (left knee) will not play Wednesday against the Magic. Ball has been making progress as his works his way back from an MCL sprain, yet the Lakers are taking a cautious approach to his return. Ball did not practice with the team on Tuesday, but has started testing his knee laterally with the trainers. He'll need to get in a full practice before he is cleared for game action. Jordan Clarkson will continue to see extended minutes in Ball's absence.

Ball (knee) has yet to go through a full practice, but could return at some point during the Lakers' current five-game road trip, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPN reports. "He's feeling better every day," coach Luke Walton said. "I wouldn't be surprised if within a couple of days, a week, whatever it is, they say he's ready to start practicing again. Ball has already missed the last six games with a minor MCL sprain and from the sounds of it, he's likely going to miss a handful more as well while he attempts to return to practice and ramp up his activity. He can safely be ruled out for Sunday's tilt with the Trail Blazers and will also likely remain sidelined ahead of Wednesday's matchup with the Magic. Coach Walton once again reiterated that the Lakers aren't going to rush Ball back, so there's certainly a chance he's out for another week or two. Another update should be provided once Ball is able to go through full-contact practices.

Lonzo Ball (left knee) will not play Sunday vs. the Raptors, as expected. "He's feeling better every day," Luke Walton said. "I wouldn't be surprised if within a couple of days, a week, whatever it is, they say he's ready to start practicing again. But we are still training and approaching it as if it's long-term. We are not making any plans as if he's coming back tomorrow." Walton added that the Lakers are in no rush to get Ball back, and he wants Ball to get in a full practice before returning to play. Jordan Clarkson has been the primary beneficiary with him out.

Lonzo Ball (knee) could return during Los Angeles' current road trip. "I wouldn’t be surprised if within a couple days, a week, whatever it is, they say he’s ready to start practicing again," Walton said. "But we’re still training and approaching it as if it’s long-term." Ball is not expected to play on Sunday, but based on Walton's comments we could see him return as soon as Wednesday's game vs. the Magic.

Lonzo Ball (knee) has been recovering from an MCL sprain and the team has been limiting his lateral movement. We finally get some details on the injury. This type of injury usually requires 1-3 weeks on the sidelines, but lateral movement will be his next major step to a return. He's only shooting jumpers now and he's not going to play on Sunday. For now, his fantasy owners should consider him doubtful to play on Wednesday.
