Lakers GM Rob Pelinka recently praised Lonzo Ball for his style of leadership. "What jumps out when Lonzo for the first time came in the building is just how he’s going to formulate his own leadership style," Pelinka said. "He has a calm, quiet sense about the way he plays. I think there were comments in the media about how it’s hard to get him to talk or say a whole lot, but that’s just who he is. He has a quiet stillness, a confidence. It translates to how he plays. He stays in the moment. He never really gets frazzled on the court, and I think he’s able to make incredible plays and decisions on the fly just because he stays in the moment. You can see that in how he’s choosing to be a leader and practicing with the other guys." We've heard a lot about how Ball has an ability to make his teammates better, and you can bet Los Angeles is counting on that developing at the NBA level after crowning him the new face of the Lakers.

President Magic Johnson said Lonzo Ball is "the new face of the Lakers." Magic also added he hopes Ball doesn't break all of his records. General manager Rob Pelinka said Ball has the ability to be an All-Defensive player because of his length, assuming Ball can commit to film study. While he does have a funky delivery on his jumper, his release is as quick as anyone to offset the long path in his delivery, so his shot could still work in the league. Vegas has him as the favorite for Rookie of the Year and it's for good reason.

The Lakers have selected UCLA PG Lonzo Ball with the second overall pick. LaVarstradamas had it all along. Lonzo’s skills as a basketball player tend to get overshadowed because of his dad, but Ball is one of the best prospects in the 2017 class. Despite an odd shooting stroke, Ball has a nice release point, helping him get to 41.2 percent on treys and 46.2 percent on his two-point jumpers in his freshman season at UCLA. He does get the Jason Kidd comparisons for his size at 6’6" while Ball himself has talked about how he wants to be a pass-first point guard, and he was also a plus rebounder at 6.0 per game last year. With the Lakers unloading D'Angelo Russell to Brooklyn, Ball should be the starting PG on opening night.

The Lakers reportedly "engaged Sacramento in talks" to send their No. 2 pick to the Kings for the No. 5 and No. 10 picks, according to David Aldridge of NBA.com. Per Aldridge, the Kings did say no to this deal, and the Lakers had the idea they would package one of those picks to get Paul George. If true, there are a couple things to consider here. First, this really shows how much the Lakers want to turn this team around in a hurry. Secondly, the Lakers may not be locked in on drafting Lonzo Ball at two, and again freeing up money for free agents is paramount for them. Expect another Lakers trade in the next 36 hours.

According to Shams Charania of The Vertical, the Lakers front office and Lonzo Ball's agent "remain in discussions." While it still seems likely that the Lakers will use the No. 2 pick on Ball, no guarantees have been made to his agent yet. Ball has met with the Lakers twice, but his camp must be somewhat confident about a future in Los Angeles because he's yet to meet with any other teams. The Lakers have been gauging the value of the No. 2 pick on the trade market and may even use it to pry Paul George away from Indiana, especially if Cleveland emerges as a threat to acquire the superstar forward.

Lonzo Ball's second workout with the Lakers went from 8:00 in the morning until noon on Friday. He went through his daily routine with them, which happened before the day went wild with the 76ers-Celtics trade talk. If Ball doesn't go to the Lakers, it'll be interesting to see where he falls. Most teams picking in the top 10 are likely looking at a point guard, so Ball shouldn't fall too far regardless. Of course, he really wants to go to the Lakers.

Lonzo Ball is considering meeting with teams that have lottery picks below the Lakers, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN. Ball has a scheduled workout in L.A. on Friday. It is his second time working out for the Lakers. His first workout was reportedly a bit disappointing. According to Shelburne: "[Ball] remains hopeful the Lakers will give him some indication whether he has 'separated himself' throughout the draft process." If the Lakers don't commit, Ball will apparently begin meeting with other clubs. However, he has no plans to speak with or work out for the Boston Celtics.

The Lakers are scheduled to have a final pre-draft meeting with Lonzo Ball on Friday, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical. The Lakers' front office will reportedly follow Ball through his "full daily training regimen of conditioning [and] on-court drills." L.A. wasn't impressed with Ball's conditioning in an earlier workout, according to multiple reports, so it makes sense that they want to get a closer look at him. Stay tuned.

Magic Johnson said the Lakers are trying to schedule another workout for Lonzo Ball. If Magic can make this happen, Ball will join Josh Jackson as the second player to visit with the Lakers twice. Ball was reportedly a little out of shape during his first visit, so maybe the Lakers want to give him another chance to prove himself. There have been many conflicting reports about what the Lakers will do with the second overall pick, but Ball is still considered the favorite to land in Los Angeles over the likes of Jackson and De'Aaron Fox.
