Marc Gasol News

Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace continues to insist that he won't trade Marc Gasol. "We think our window is still very much open with Mike [Conley] and Marc. I think we’ll be heard from the rest of this year, and in years to come," Wallace said. The Grizzlies have lost 16 of their last 17 games and are now tied with Dallas for the worst record in the West. Admitting that Gasol is available would reduce their leverage in trade talks, so there's still a good chance that the veteran is moved if the Grizzlies don't turn their season around.

Marc Gasol hit 5-of-16 shots to finish Wednesday's loss in D.C. with 15 points, 10 rebounds, one steal, one block and one 3-pointer in 38 minutes. Gasol recently questioned the Grizzlies' team "culture," and their tailspin has continued since the firing of coach David Fizdale. "We’re always looking for an excuse from another guy," Gasol said after Monday's loss. His vocal frustration will inevitably lead to whispers about the possibility of a trade, but for now there's no reason to think Memphis will deal him. From a fantasy perspective, he has a healthy 28.4% usage rate over the past month and just needs to start knocking down shots -- he's shooting a mere 40.4% in that span.

Marc Gasol is not planning on asking Memphis management to trade him. "I have a responsibility to this city," Gasol said. "I'm not gonna quit, no matter what... as long as [owner] Robert [Pera] wants me here, my teammates want me here, they think I'm part of the solution -- and not part of the problem -- that's all I need." GM Chris Wallace has also indicated that the Grizzlies are not looking to move their franchise center, despite losing 15 of their last 16 games, although Gasol did say he would accept a trade if management felt it would be best. If he stays in Memphis this season, he could be a shutdown risk later in the year if they're not a playoff team.

Gasol finished with 19 points (5-14 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 7-10 FT), six rebounds and two assists in 34 minutes during Monday's 107-82 loss to the Heat. Gasol led his team in scoring but was underwhelming in the heavy defeat. He has been decent for owners so far this season, but has been trending down over the last few weeks. He is still scoring the ball, but his rebounds and blocks have fallen away. This could have something to do with Mike Conley (Achilles) being out of the lineup for an extended period, and also the return of JaMychal Green. He will look to bounce back Wednesday, when his team visits Washington.

Marc Gasol hit just 5-of-14 shots, 2-of-5 3-pointers and 7-of-10 free throws for 19 points, six rebounds and two assists in 35 minutes of Monday's ugly 107-82 loss to the Heat. "We haven't found out culture yet," he said after a fourth straight loss for the Grizz. Gasol was instrumental in getting David Fizdale fired, but the Grizzlies still struggle nightly. Gasol is ticked off and may end up taking things into his own hands soon, but has generally been playing very well despite the skid.

Gasol recorded 22 points (8-17 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT), eight rebounds, six assists and a blocked shot across 42 minutes in Saturday's 102-101 overtime loss to the Thunder. Gasol once again wielded a big offensive presence for the Grizzlies, but Gasol had difficulty snagging the Thunder's errant shots, as most fell to Tyreke Evans in the backcourt. Gasol's fortunes often mimic the outcome for Memphis, but tonight was a bit of an aberration. The Grizzlies will often play in games with low Over/Under lines, but Gasol is currently the second-best scoring option on the team and still warrants ownership in seasonal leagues.

Marc Gasol ended up with 22 points across 42 minutes in Saturday's overtime loss at home against the visiting Thunder. Gasol hit 8-of-17 from the field, including 2-of-5 from behind the 3-point line, while adding six rebounds, six assists and a blocked shot. His supporting cast is rather shaky, but he and Tyreke Evans continue to be constants for interim head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, and, more importantly, fantasy owners.

Marc Gasol has been fined $15,000 for using profane language during a live television interview. The comments were made following Monday's win over the Wolves which snapped an 11-game losing streak, so his frustration just got the best of him. Gasol had an injury scare on Wednesday vs. the Knicks when he appeared to tweak his right foot, and while he did play through the issue, we'll be monitoring him very closely.

Marc Gasol returned from an injury scare on Wednesday to score 17 points (5-of-12 FGs, 6-of-7 FTs) with eight boards, three assists and two blocks. Gasol landed funny and it looked like his tweaked his surgically-repaired right foot. He limped into the locker room but didn't seem limited after the half, so he should be in the clear. He'll get a day to rest up before Friday's home game vs. the Raptors -- we'll add him to the injury report as a simple precaution.

Marc Gasol exited Wednesday's game after appearing to tweak his right foot. Gasol may have landed awkwardly on Courtney Lee's foot, and he quickly headed into the Grizzlies locker room. We should have updates soon, and for now we'll consider him questionable to return.
