Mike Conley will undergo season-ending surgery to "smooth a small bone protrusion" in his left heel. Although the news isn't shocking, considering the Grizzlies have essentially already been eliminated from playoff contention, it's still obviously a tough blow for Memphis fans and Conley owners. GM Chris Wallace said that Conley "has been extremely diligent as we pursued multiple different approaches to alleviate the pain before deciding surgery was the best solution." Conley hasn't played since early November, but made some progress in his rehab. However, the "pain/soreness persisted." Conley is expected to make a full recovery ahead of training camp in October. Andrew Harrison and Mario Chalmers will continue to divvy up minutes at point guard.
