Paul George News

Paul George    G/F  Pacers

Houston and Indiana's trade talks focused around Paul George are "generally on hold," a source told Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. Expect a lot of non-updates on George's future until some clarity is finally received, but this is just another indication that the Pacers aren't quite as far along in the process as their front office would like to have you believe.

Paul George is "still telling friends that he intends to be a Laker in 2018," sources told Tania Ganguli of the Los Angeles Times. We're going to hear update after update on this front until something happens in regards to George's future, so it's important not to get too worked up about the minutia that comes into play along the way. From the Lakers perspective, Los Angeles has no desire or incentive to give up Lonzo Ball or Brandon Ingram in any potential trade for George's services, so the staring contest is likely to continue for the time being.

The Indiana Pacers will hire Chad Buchanan as their general manager, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical. Buchanan had been an executive in Charlotte, but now he'll be the general manager in Indy working under President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard.

Rockets' GM Daryl Morey is trying to bring in another All-Star to play alongside James Harden and Chris Paul, according to sources of Jeff Goodman of ESPN. While Goodman doesn't name anyone directly in his report, Paul George stands out as one of the more obvious targets out there, and PG-13 has been linked to Houston numerous times in the past couple weeks. PG-13 partnering up with CP3 and Harden in Houston would make that squad an immediate contender out West, so it'll be interesting to see if Morey is able to pull off another blockbuster deal after wooing away Paul from Los Angeles.

The Wizards reportedly have not given up their pursuit of Paul George. To be clear, the Wizards have almost no shot of creating a deal that will entice the Pacers to part ways with their superstar, but John Wall (who is a good friend of George) is reportedly doing his best to try and recruit PG-13. As of right now, it would appear the Celtics have the best shot of putting together a package that will net them George, but the Wizards, Rockets and Cavs all remain in the running.

According to Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, a three-team trade that would send Paul George to Cleveland and Kevin Love to Denver is "very unlikely" to happen. Vardon confirmed an ESPN report that the talks took place, but it sounds like they didn't get very far. The Cavaliers initiated the trade talks, but the Pacers weren't interested in what the Nuggets had to offer -- Kenneth Faried, Wilson Chandler and Emmanuel Mudiay were all mentioned in ESPN's report on Sunday, but the Pacers were probably hoping for a better young prospect and a draft pick(s). George's value on the trade market is declining by the day, so Indiana will be motivated to find him a new home sooner rather than later.

The Cavaliers, Pacers and Nuggets have reportedly discussed a three-team deal that would send Paul George to Cleveland, with Kevin Love going to Denver. To be clear, nothing is imminent and there's no mention of what Indiana would get in this scenario -- Denver would likely send them a combination of young players and draft picks. It would be a very interesting move from the Nuggets, who acquired Trey Lyles on draft day but could lose Danilo Gallinari in free agency. Chris Haynes reports that Denver would be willing to give up Kenneth Faried in a potential deal, with Wilson Chandler and Emmanuel Mudiay also "available." Stay tuned.

Talks between the Celtics and Pacers about Paul George have "stalled," according to The Vertical. Celtics writer Gary Washburn previously confirmed talks between the teams, but noted that the " sides are not close." It's unclear what the sticking point is, but Boston has been reluctant in the past to part with any of their first-round picks from the Nets. The deal isn't dead, but this is a far cry from the "serious talks" and "significant momentum" reported an hour ago.

The Pacers and Celtics are "engaged in serious talks" about a Paul George trade, according to Adrian Wojnarowski, but they are "still apart." Here we go. Boston has a heap of young talent and draft picks they can use to lure George away from the Pacers, but keep in mind this isn't a done deal -- it had "gained significant momentum," but may have since cooled off. George isn't expected to promise that he'll re-sign with a new team, given his interest in signing with L.A. next summer, so there's obvious risk involved. Stay tuned, as we should know more very soon.

The Rockets "remain in trade pursuit" of Paul George, according to ESPN's Marc Stein. Based on the earlier report of the Blazers not having enough ammo, it'll be really tough for the Rockets to get a deal together for George. Unless the Rockets can pull some strings to get other deals going, this seems like it'll be tough to get done for general manager Daryl Morey.
