Paul Millsap News

Paul Millsap hosted a minicamp for the Nuggets this week in Atlanta. Wilson Chandler, Malik Beasley, Jamal Murray, Will Barton, Jameer Nelson, Trey Lyles, Darrell Arthur, and Kenneth Faried were all present as the Nuggets look to get a head start on the season. It's a sign that Millsap is rejuvenated after signing a three-year, $90 million deal this summer and that he's ready to take on a leadership role in Denver. Millsap is coming off a down year, but he's joining a top-5 offense in the NBA and should thrive next to a pass-first Nikola Jokic. He's a bargain at his current fourth-round ADP.

Paul Millsap said that the Hawks never even made him a contract offer. Wow. The Hawks were expected to make it a "priority" to bring Millsap back to Atlanta, so it's odd that they didn't fight to keep their All-Star PF. Millsap is 32 years and signed a three-year, $90 million deal with Denver, so the Hawks probably didn't want to commit to that type of money since they are nowhere close to being a contender anymore. The Hawks will have to bring in some frontcourt depth this summer, but rookie John Collins is already on the radar as a sleeper in deeper formats. The Millsap departure is also good news for the fantasy value of Taurean Prince.

Millsap's three-year contract with the Nuggets is expected to come by way of a sign-and-trade with the Hawks, which is part of a larger agreement that includes the sign-and-trade of Danilo Gallinari to the Clippers, Shams Charania of The Vertical reports.

Paul Millsap and the Nuggets have agreed to a three-year, $90 million deal, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical. The Suns and Wolves reportedly withdrew from the chase over the past few days, and Millsap's new pairing with Nikola Jokic creates a fascinating frontcourt. The biggest-name free agents are signing quickly and there's been a lot of movement over the past 48 hours, so we should see dominoes fall in rapid succession as we approach July 4th. From a fantasy perspective, Millsap should benefit from Jokic's passing and the fast-paced attack in Denver, allowing him to bounce back from a sub-par 2016-17 fantasy campaign. The Hawks' frontcourt, meanwhile, is in disarray, with Miles Plumlee and rookie John Collins as their only true big men. More moves are sure to follow.

Paul Millsap's meeting in Denver reportedly "went well" and lasted for several hours. It's rare to hear about a meeting that doesn't go well, so this still doesn't mean much. However, with the Suns and Wolves no longer chasing Millsap, the Nuggets could be considered the heavy favorites. It's fun to imagine a frontcourt pairing of Millsap and Nikola Jokic, and while that would likely give the Nuggets the ammunition to get back into the playoffs, it also means they would have to let Danilo Gallinari go.

The Wolves "may be out" on talks for Paul Millsap, according to NBA.com's David Aldridge. In case you missed it a few moments ago, the Suns are out, so that may put the Nuggets in the catbird seat for now. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that owner Josh Kroenke, president Tim Connelly, coach Mike Malone and Gary Harris will be in Atlanta to pitch Millsap -- Gary Harris really does do everything. There's always some concern of a mystery team, but it may be a two-horse race with the Hawks and Nuggets. Millsap would obviously be a great fit next to Nikola Jokic. Another positive here is the lack of competition could help the Nuggets keep the years down or not have to go all the way to max.

The Suns are out on the Paul Millsap pursuit, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.com. Sam Amick of USA Today adds Millsap is still expected to meet with Denver tonight. Woj notes that the Suns are going to keep their cap space open and hope to take on salary to go with some young assets or picks -- this is the move Sam Hinkie used to get picks from the Kings a few years ago. With the Suns out, that leaves the Wolves, Nuggets and Hawks as the frontrunners for the 2017 All-Star. The Wolves would likely have to make some moves to fit Sapper in the cap.
