Rodney Hood News

Hood provided 15 points (6-14 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), and two rebounds in 21 minutes during Monday's 109-94 loss to the Pacers. With Ricky Rubio looking ice-cold with this shot on Monday, Hood saw extended action off the bench at the one and made the most of it. The 24-year old remains stuck in the second unit behind Rubio and the surprising Donovan Mitchell, and finds himself on a squad where he's unable to have the kind of breakout campaign he could have on another team. As a result, he only has fantasy value in deeper leagues or as a flier in DFS tournaments.

Hood tallied 15 points (4-13 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), one rebound and one assist across 26 minutes during a 99-88 loss to the Hornets on Friday. Hood returned to the game after he sprained his ankle and he led the bench with 15 points. It wasn't his most efficient effort, and he has now shot below 31 percent from the field in four of his last six outings. The team is off until Monday, so Hood would figure to be good to go for that one.

Rodney Hood tweaked his left ankle on Friday vs. the Hornets, but returned and scored 15 points with one rebound, one assist and three 3-pointers. He briefly went to the locker room, but the Jazz diagnosed him with a "mild left ankle sprain" and he seemed fine the rest of the evening. Hood hit 4-of-13 shots in the loss and can't seem to snap out of his slump, as he's now averaging 10.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 0.6 steals and 1.4 triples on 33.9% shooting over his last five games. If there's a hot free agent available, we wouldn't blame you for moving on.

Hood is considered probable to return after spraining his right ankle Friday, Kyle Goon of the Salt Lake Tribune reports. Hood struggled in the first half in Friday's game against the Hornets, posting just three points, one assist, and one block in nine minutes. His ankle injury does not appear to be serious given his probable designation to return, but his status will still need to be monitored going forward.

Rodney Hood has been fined $35,000 for slapping a cell phone out of the hands of a fan on his way back to the locker room on Wednesday. Hood was perturbed after getting ejected from Wednesday's game in just 15 minutes and took his frustrations out on the phone of a fan sitting courtside. The hilarious stunt will cost him a new car, but he won't be facing a suspension, so owners can plan on rolling him out there for Friday's matchup with the Hornets.

Rodney Hood was ejected from Wednesday's game after picking up two technical fouls, finishing with seven points, six rebounds and two assists in 15 minutes. Hood already had one technical and he jawed at the refs again to end the third quarter, which earned him an early exit. He knocked a phone out of a fan's hand after the ejection, so he could get fined, but we doubt he'll face a suspension. It can't hurt to double-check his status, but he should be back to his usual 28-30 minute role vs. Charlotte on Friday.

Rodney Hood went 7-of-16 from the field and 2-of-3 from the line on his way to 17 points, one 3-pointer, four rebounds and two assists in 30 minutes off the bench. Hood got cookin' late in the game, scoring nine of his 17 points through the final frame of action, although overall, this was a fairly empty stat line. Hood has been putting points on the board this season, but he's not bringing much else to the stat sheet, and lame shooting percentages have really weighed down his value. He's not necessarily a must-own guy anymore.

Rodney Hood made 1-of-10 from the field for two points with two rebounds, three assists and two steals in 33 minutes against the Pelicans on Wednesday. He's been streaky for most of his NBA career and he's been trending down since a 29-point game against the Spurs back on Dec. 21. In those five games, he's made just 28.4 percent from the field for 11.8 points per game. He'll snap out of it at some point, but that may not happen against Denver on Friday. He's been held in check for each of his two games against them.

Rodney Hood went off for 26 points, five rebounds, three steals and two 3-pointers in 29 minutes vs. the Warriors on Wednesday. Hood hit 9-of-20 shots and 6-of-8 free throws, but before his fantasy owners get too excited, it's important to note that he scored 14 of his points in garbage time after the Jazz were run out of the building in the third quarter. Tonight's nice line aside, Hood has been a low-end fantasy asset in December because he's only been strong in two categories with 16.8 points and 3.1 triples per game prior to Wednesday. There's room for growth, but staying healthy is the key.

Hood poured in 10 points (4-17 FG, 2-7 3Pt) and added six rebounds and one assist across 29 minutes in Tuesday's 107-83 loss to the Nuggets. Hood endured a second consecutive rough shooting night, as he's now gone just 7-for-31 (22.6 percent) from the field in that pair of contests. The fourth-year guard still managed to reach double digits in the scoring column for the seventh time in the last eight games Tuesday, a stretch that includes a pair of 20-point efforts. Hood's bench role is still affording him plenty of playing time -- he's logged no less than 25 minutes in the last 14 contests -- which is helping keep him a viable source of scoring and three-pointers in all formats.
