Zaza Pachulia News

Zaza Pachulia    F/C  Warriors

Zaza Pachulia finished with one point, one rebound and one steal in six minutes during Wednesday's loss in Portland. Pachulia should only be in a handful of deep-league lineups anyway, but his undoing tonight was the Warriors going even smaller than usual -- Nick Young even started the second half in place of Pachulia. The Warriors' loss gives Houston the best record in the NBA heading into the All-Star break, a fact Rockets GM Daryl Morey cheekily acknowledged by Tweeting "#ripcity" after the Blazers victory.

Pachulia totaled 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-2 FT), eight rebounds, two assists and one steal across 19 minutes in Saturday's 115-108 loss to the Nuggets. The big man's performance was encouragingly efficient and represented his fifth solid all-around effort in the last six contests. Pachulia has scored between eight and 13 points in those games, and he's complemented those totals with six to 13 rebounds in four those contests as well. The 33-year-old's minute totals are still typically under 20 in the overwhelming majority of nights, but Pachulia appears to be exceedingly proficient at maximizing them in recent games.

Zaza Pachulia ended up with eight points, 13 rebounds, a steal and a blocked shot over 22 minutes in Friday's 119-104 win at Sacramento. Pachulia hit 4-of-6 from the field, and he has four buckets in four of the past five outings. The 13 rebounds represented a season high. He is averaging 7.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per game over the past seven outings to make him worthy of fantasy consideration in deeper formats.

Pachulia poured in 13 points (5-6 FG, 3-3 FT) and added four rebounds and one steal across 14 minutes in Tuesday's 123-112 win over the Knicks. The veteran big man was highly efficient on a per-minute basis, posting his best scoring total since Dec. 30 and his second highest of the season overall. Pachulia contributions are usually heavily centered in the rebounding category, but he's capable of the occasional double-digit point tally when his shot is on. However, even factoring in Tuesday's modest offensive surge, the fact that he's yet to take double-digit shot attempts in any game and shares the floor with four high-usage teammates limits his fantasy value to considerably deep formats.

Pachulia will return to the starting five for Wednesday's tilt with the Bulls. The Warriors opted to go smaller in their previous outing, moving Jordan Bell into the starting lineup and bringing Pachulia off the bench. However, Draymond Green is dealing with an injury and has been ruled out Wednesday, so Bell will shift over to power forward, with Pachulia reclaiming his spot in the top unit.

Pachulia will shift to a bench role for Monday's tilt with the Cavaliers, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports. The Warriors are shifting to a smaller lineup to matchup better with the Cavaliers, so Jordan Bell will get the call with the top unit, while Pachulia will come off the bench. Pachulia has averaged just 13.6 minutes over the last seven games, so despite the demotion, he'll likely only see a slight decrease in playing time. He'll be safe to avoid for fantasy purposes heading into Monday's contest.

Pachulia provided 12 points (4-6 FG, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, one assist and one steal across 16 minutes in Wednesday's 125-106 loss to the Clippers. Despite a respectable overall scoring total for the Warriors, Pachulia was ironically the one other player who joined Kevin Durant as a double-digit point scorer on the night. The veteran big man's slight uptick in usage was perhaps at least partly influenced by the absences of Stephen Curry (ankle) and Klay Thompson (rest) and helped lead to his second-highest scoring total of the campaign. Pachulia's slotting in the Warriors' offensive hierarchy is typically much smaller when the starting five is at full health, so Wednesday's production could more or less be considered an outlier.
