Zaza Pachulia News

The NBA will not discipline Zaza Pachulia, according to Sam Amick of USA Today. Zaza is lucky here, especially after his history of causing injuries in this postseason. To be fair, Pachulia is a little wild and his style of play is part of the reason Kevin Durant had a knee injury during the regular season. Still, coach Steve Kerr may want to make an adjustment after the Cavs have been killing the Warriors on threes.

The NBA is reviewing the Zaza Pachulia incident from the second half of Game 4 on Friday. As they should. Pachulia hit Iman Shumpert below the belt and he apparently kicked someone, so the NBA was obviously going to look at this following the Kawhi Leonard incident last month. If Zaza Pachulia does get suspended, coach Steve Kerr may opt to start Patrick McCaw or even Andre Iguodala to help defend the perimeter after the Dubs gave up an NBA Finals record 24 treys on Friday.

Zaza Pachulia scored six points with three rebounds in 16 minutes against the Cavs on Friday night. He certainly could be looking at a suspension after he appeared to have hit Iman Shumpert below the belt. Pachulia did also appear to kick another Cav, but for some reason the refs didn't penalize him for it. Considering Pachulia's track record including the Kawhi Leonard injury, he could be out for Game 5.

Zaza Pachulia scored eight points with six rebounds, two steals and no turnovers in 14 minutes in his Game 1 start against the Cavs. He looked a step slow in the first quarter, but Zaza looked a lot better as the game went on. Coach Mike Brown even went with Pachulia with Kevin Love at the five, so he does have some faith in him against smaller lineups. Expect him to start the rest of the way, assuming he's healthy.

Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant, Draymond Green and Zaza Pachulia will start in Game 1 against the Cavs on Thursday. No surprises here as coach Mike Brown goes back to the well. Pachulia hasn't played since May 16, but he has been practicing for over a week. Pachulia has been looking at around 15 minutes per game in the postseason, which is probably a fair expectation for today.

Zaza Pachulia is on track to start Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday. Pachulia has practiced for three days in a row and still has a few more days to get back to full strength. "It’s good that we have one week off," he said. "That way I can prepare myself mentally and physically for this team." Anthony Slater of The Mercury News expects the center to play his normal role of about 15-20 minutes, as the Warriors could use his size to help keep Tristan Thompson off the offensive glass.

Zaza Pachulia (heel) went through all parts of the three practices on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. He is basically back to being healthy and is on track to start on Thursday. Coach Mike Brown said Zaza ran and did scrimmage over the past three days, and Zaza definitely appreciated the time off. "It’s good that we have one week off," Pachulia said. "That way I can prepare myself mentally and physically for this team." The Warriors may have saved up Andre Iguodala more in the early rounds, so he could take some of Zaza's minutes.

Zaza Pachulia (heel) went through a full practice on Thursday. He has another week to get healthy and should be ready to roll for Game 1 at home. Pachulia actually leads the Warriors for net rating in the playoffs with his +28.4, which is a testament to how much the starters are dominating. He has missed the last two games to give JaVale McGee, Pat McCaw and David West get some added run.
