Dwight Howard    C  Hornets

Dwight Howard said that he belives he will excel with the Hornets and that Charlotte is the "perfect opportunity" for him. Howard admitted that he has heard plenty of disparaging comments, but is motivated to prove the doubters wrong. "A lot of people have written me off, which is great because it's going to make me work even harder," Howard said. D12 also believes his improved health will play a part in his resurgence. "I think I'm a lot healthier than I have been in the past five years and I think this is going to be my best time." Despite Howard's optimism, this is a situation to avoid from a fantasy perspective, due to the crowded frontcourt in Charlotte

Vlatko Cancar    F  Nuggets

Nuggets second-round pick Vlatko Cancar will play "a couple of seasons" overseas before coming to the NBA, according to Denver reporter Chris Dempsey. As with many players selected late in the second round, Cancar will be stashed overseas. This benefits both parties. Cancar will have plenty of time to develop his body and his game, while the Nuggets don't have to worry about him taking up a valuable roster spot.

Milos Teodosic    G

Milos Teodosic stated that he is "almost certain" he will not re-sign with CSKA Moscow this summer. "It’s almost certain that I will not stay in CSKA Moscow. I don’t know where I will continue my career. American is something that I am thinking about," Teodosic told a Serbian news outlet. Interestingly, according to Eurohoops sources, the Bulls are interested in securing his services. However, with Chicago recently trading for Kris Dunn and entering a rebuilding phase, that seems highly unlikely.

Dirk Nowitzki    F/C  Mavericks

Dirk Nowitzki said on Monday that he hopes to play "a couple more years." Despite turning 39 earlier this month, Nowitzki clearly still has gas left in the tank. Last season, he averaged 14.2 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 3-pointers in 26.4 minutes per game. The Mavs declined his team option for the 2017-18 season, but are fully expected to bring him back, possibly on a two-year deal.

Russell Westbrook    G  Thunder

Russell Westbrook said on Monday night that he has not yet started thinking about his contract extension. Shortly after being named MVP, reporters asked Westbrook if he had decided whether or not he planned on signing a lucrative extension with OKC. "Man, tonight is so important for me, and obviously with the contract and stuff coming up, it's not really on my mind at the moment honestly," Westbrook said. On July 1, he’s eligible to sign an extension worth up to $215 million over the next five seasons. If Russ does not sign the extension, he would be able to hit free agency in 2018, which would put the Thunder in a precarious position.

John Wall    G  Wizards

John Wall spoke about trying to recruit Pacers forward Paul George, who will be a free agent after the upcoming season. "Look at our team. We are one piece away," Wall said. "We have the point guard, we have the shooting guard, we have the center, we have the power forward. Our 3-man, [Otto Porter Jr.], did great for us. You can't take nothing away from what he did. But, [George] is a guy that can guard LeBron and go back at LeBron. It's a piece that you're going to need to win. If you don't have a guy who can do that, you don't have a chance. George appears to have his sights set on L.A. or Cleveland in the end, but it's not unthinkable that he could opt to join forces with Wall and Beal in Washington for the right deal. Either way, George's days in Indy appear to be numbered and it will be fun to watch his negotiations until we see where he'll finally land.

Russell Westbrook    G  Thunder

Russell Westbrook was named the league MVP for the 2016-17 season. Kevin Durant's departure set the franchise back several years, but Westbrook kept them relevant in the West by helping his team finish sixth in the West with a 47-35 record. Westbrook averaged a triple-double with 31.6 points, 10.7 rebounds, 10.4 assists, 1.6 steals, 2.5 treys and 5.4 turnovers, breaking Oscar Robertson's record for most triple-doubles in a season with 43. Westy seems pretty happy to be the man in OKC and could be looking at an extension this worth $200+ million over five seasons this summer.

Draymond Green    F  Warriors

Draymond Green won the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year. Rudy Gobert and Kawhi Leonard are every bit as deserving, but Green was due for one of these after Leonard took home the last two awards -- Green was the runner up the last two seasons. The two-time NBA champion's production slipped with Kevin Durant in Golden State, but he still was a top-25 player in standard leagues with averages of 10.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, 7.0 assists. 1.4 blocks, 1.1 triples and a career-high 2.0 steals per game.

Mike D'Antoni    C  Rockets

Rockets head coach Mike D'Antonio won the 2017 Coach of the Year Award. This was D'Antonio's second time winning the award, as he won it back in 2004 when he led the Suns to a franchise-high tying 62 wins. He was considered the heavy favorite for the award after leading the Rockets to a 55-27 record and a third place finish in the West. The Rockets set the All-Time record for most 3-pointers made in a season and D'Antoni is partly responsible for James Harden's best season of his career.

Giannis Antetokounmpo    G/F  Bucks

Giannis Antetokounmpo won the 2017 Most Improved Player Award. Giannis led the Bucks to a sixth place finish in the East with a 42-40 record, earning a spot on the Eastern All-Star starting five in the process. The Greak Freak was a top-5 asset in standard leagues with averages of 22.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.7 steals, 1.9 blocks and 0.6 3-pointers on 52.2 percent shooting, becoming the first player in NBA history to finish in the top 20 in total points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. Entering his age-23 season, you can make a strong argument of taking him with the No. 1 pick in fantasy drafts.
