76ers News

Jerryd Bayless    PG  76ers

Bayless will get the start in place of the injured J.J. Redick on Thursday against the Celtics, Brian Seltzer of Sixers.com reports. Bayless has seen his role fluctuate throughout most of the season, but he's recently settled into roughly 17-25 minutes off the bench on most nights. That number should increase in Redick's absence, and Bayless will have a chance to remain in the starting lineup for at least 10-14 days, while Redick deals with a bone edema and small crack in his left fibula. Coach Brett Brown also noted that Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot and Justin Anderson will likely see increased time off the bench behind Bayless.

Richaun Holmes    F/C  76ers

Richaun Holmes (gastroenteritis) will not suit up for Thursday's game in Boston. This will be Holmes second straight game on the sidelines due to the stomach bug, which will translate to more minutes for Trevor Booker and Amir Johnson. Holmes is only worth owning in deep leagues as a Joel Embiid-handcuff.

Richaun Holmes    PF  76ers

Holmes (illness) will not play during Thursday's contest against the Celtics, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports. Holmes is dealing with gastroenteritis, which is serious enough for him to miss a second straight contest. In his stead, Amir Johnson, Trevor Booker and Dario Saric are all candidates to see extra run.

J.J. Redick    SG  76ers

An MRI revealed Redick is dealing with bone edema and a small cortical crack in the fibular head of his left leg. He's expected to be reevaluated in 10-to-14 days, Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports. A previous report from Adrian Wojnarowski indicated Redick wasn't facing an extended absence, though this most recent report indicates Redick will miss around two weeks before being reevaluated. That means Redick is slated to sit out the next four games, with his first shot to make a return coming on Jan. 26 against the Spurs. There's a very realistic chance he misses more time than that, so continue to look out for updates as Redick moves through the recovery process. T.J. McConnell and Jerryd Bayless appear to be the likely beneficiaries, though Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot could pick up more minutes on the wing as well.

J.J. Redick    G  76ers

J.J. Redick (left leg) will be re-evaluated in 10 days to two weeks. An MRI revealed a bone edema and a small cortical crack in the fibular head of his left leg. It's important to note that he's not a lock to return in 10 days to two weeks, but Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that Redick is likely going to miss a "short window of time." T.J. McConnell looks like a solid pickup with Philly expected to use more two-PG lineups, while we could see more of Timothe Luwawu and Jerryd Bayless.

J.J. Redick    SG  76ers

Redick's left leg injury isn't considered serious and he's only expected to miss a short period of time, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Redick limped to the locker room late in Monday's win over the Raptors and while specifics on the injury haven't been released, it appears it's nothing overly serious. While Redick is not expected to miss extended time, Wojnarowski's report does seem to indicate that Redick could miss at least a game or two, so there's a decent chance he remains sidelined for Thursday's tilt with the Celtics. Look for official confirmation later this week to make sure, though if Redick sits, that should open more time for guys like Jerryd Bayless and T.J. McConnell.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, J.J. Redick’s left leg injury "isn’t serious" and he will "likely miss only a short window of time." While this is good news, we still don't have a real timetable yet. His fantasy owners should sit tight as we should get an update from Philly on Wednesday morning. While Redick is out, we could see more of T.J. McConnell and Timothe Luwawu.

Joel Embiid    C  76ers

Embiid scored 34 points (11-21 FG, 1-5 3PT, 11-14 FT) to go with 11 rebounds, three assists and one block in 35 minutes during Monday's 117-111 win against Toronto. The center recovered from his 15 point performance in London on Thursday for a game-high 34 points Monday. Embiid followed up an 18 point first half with 16 points after the break. Against Toronto, Embiid was solid from the floor, shooting 52.3 percent. In addition, he is averaging 23.0 points over his last five games. The likely Eastern Conference all-star continues to score in bunches, averaging a team-leading 23.5 points through 30 games.

T.J. McConnell    PG  76ers

McConnell scored 18 points (8-13 FG, 1-3 3PT, 1-2 FT) to go with six rebounds, eight assists, three steals and one block in 32 minutes during Monday's 117-111 win against Toronto. Thanks to Ben Simmons' three early fouls, McConnel played the majority of the second quarter. The guard responded by dishing out seven assists by halftime. In addition, McConnell compiled a career-high 18 points to cement an impressive outing. The reserve guard's normal role is that of spelling Simmons and taking over the point when both are on the floor. However, Monday's performance exceeded all expectations for McConnell.
