Celtics News

Marcus Morris    F  Celtics

Marcus Morris told reporters his target return date is next Monday, October 30th vs. San Antonio. Coach Brad Stevens said that Morris would not play this week, so next Monday would be the first game he'd be eligible to suit up for. As long as he can avoid a setback between now and then, we can expect him to make his Celtic debut on that date. The question is whether or not Stevens chooses to bring him off the bench or insert him into the starting lineup. We should have a more clear indication of the Celtics intentions by the weekend.

Marcus Morris (sore right knee) will not play this week, according to coach Brad Stevens. That means at least three more DNPs are coming for Morris, although he did go through non-contact portions of Monday's practice. Boston could really use another healthy body, but they'll play it safe with Morris and it doesn't help that he missed a lot of training camp and the preseason. Even when he's cleared to play, he's unlikely to be more than a fringe option in 12-team leagues.

Marcus Smart    G  Celtics

Marcus Smart (ankles) wasn't on the court at the end of Monday's practice, and coach Brad Stevens said he is day-to-day. It's possible Smart did some work today before reporters were given access, but his status remains up in the air for Tuesday's game vs. the Knicks. Terry Rozier should have a heavy workload if Smart is out, with Semi Ojeleye and Abdel Nader also picking up some slack.

Gordon Hayward    G/F  Celtics

Danny Ainge seemed to acknowledge during a recent interview that Gordon Hayward's (leg) season is likely over. "When [Kevin Garnett] went down in ’09, we weren’t sure that he was done," Ainge said. "We were sort of thinking that he might come back, he’s not too far away, and that made that a challenging year. We weren’t sure what to do because we were trying to buy time, and in Gordon’s case, he’s most likely out for the year. So that’s a different scenario." Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and Terry Rozier will see an uptick in minutes with Hayward on the sidelines.

Kyrie Irving    G  Celtics

Kyrie Irving has been fined $25,000 for using "inappropriate language" towards a fan at halftime during Friday's game. Irving did not take kindly to a fan yelling at him "where's LeBron" as he headed into the tunnel at halftime, and he responded with some vulgar language. His wallet will take a hit, but his actions won't result in him being forced to spend any time on the sidelines.

Guerschon Yabusele    F  Celtics

Yabusele (illness) posted three points (1-2 FG, 1-1 3Pt), one rebound and two turnovers across three minutes during Friday's matchup with the 76ers.

Marcus Smart    G  Celtics

Marcus Smart (ankles) worked out in the weight room on Saturday. He did not do any on-court work. On Friday, coach Brad Stevens used Aron Baynes as a starter against Joel "The Process" Embiid, and it worked out in a win. More notably, Al Horford guarded Ben Simmons and it kind of worked out. All told, Stevens will play the matchups here, so there isn't really an add to make besides Terry Rozier.

Marcus Morris    F  Celtics

Marcus Morris (knee) did some on-court work on Saturday. He is expected to be re-evaluated in a week or so. The Celtics have used three different starting lineups to start the season, which marks the first time they've done so this century. Morris really needs a lot of minutes to make an impact in fantasy, so he's more of a low-upside stash.
