Grizzlies News

Brandan Wright    PF  Grizzlies

Wright (groin) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against Cleveland. Wright aggravated a groin issue during Friday's game and departed after playing only eight minutes. With Chandler Parsons (knee/ankle) out and Marc Gasol (foot) questionable to play Saturday, the Grizzlies could be rather shorthanded at forward, meaning the likes of JaMychal Green, Jarrell Martin and James Ennis could each see increased minutes.

Brandan Wright    F/C  Grizzlies

Brandan Wright (groin) has been ruled out of Saturday's game vs. the Cavs. This was expected after Wright was forced to exit Friday's game after experiencing tightness in his right groin in the first half. Wright was unable to return. Marc Gasol (left foot) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game. If Gasol is unable to play, the Grizz would be severely shorthanded at center. In that scenario, Deyonta Davis would likely draw the start and would be forced to play heavy minutes.

Marc Gasol    C  Grizzlies

Marc Gasol (ankle) is questionable to play against the Cavs on Saturday. He tweaked his ankle in the second half on Friday and was in some pain in the locker room after the game. While the Grizzlies haven't won a game since Nov. 7, they probably don't want to the 32-year-old Gasol with a gimpy ankle. If he is out, that means we're going to see a decent amount of Deyonta Davis while Vince Hunter likely has to play some five out of desperation. Jarell Martin could also get run while JaMychal Green should be a bigger factor on offense.

Mario Chalmers    G  Grizzlies

Mario Chalmers (ankle) posted four points with three assists, two rebounds and just one turnover across 18 minutes Friday against San Antonio. Chalmers returned to the lineup, but he came off the bench with interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff sticking with Tyreke Evans in the starting lineup. Chalmers managed just 1-of-5 shooting from the floor, and 0-of-2 from behind the arc. Despite the poor shooting performance, it appears safe to plug him back into the active fantasy lineup if you normally rely upon him, especially since the Grizzlies are shorthanded in the backcourt.

Tyreke Evans    G/F  Grizzlies

Tyreke Evans finished with just three points in Friday's game against the Spurs, hitting just 1-of-7 from the field. Evans posted a team-high 22 points in the front end of the home-and-home set, but he was terrible in this outing. He still was able to posted four assists, three rebounds and one steal while turning it over just once across 29 minutes, so it wasn't a complete loss. The veteran continues to start for the shorthanded Grizzlies and remains useful to fantasy owners whether he is starting or coming off the bench.

Chandler Parsons    F  Grizzlies

Chandler Parsons (knee) returned to action Friday against the Spurs, finishing with 12 points across 23 minutes off the bench. Parsons also chipped in with two rebounds and a 3-pointer while turning it over twice. He missed the front end of the home-and-home with right knee tendinitis, but he didn't appear to show any ill effects of the ailment in this one. It appears safe to get him back into the active fantasy lineup in deeper leagues if you normally rely upon him.

Marc Gasol    C  Grizzlies

Marc Gasol finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds, four assists, two steals and a blocked shot across 34 minutes in Friday's loss against San Antonio. Gasol took his older brother behind the shed, averaging 13.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game in the back-to-back with the Spurs, while Pau managed just 6.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game in the set. Friday's outing marked the first double-double in three games for Gasol.

Deyonta Davis    F/C  Grizzlies

Deyonta Davis scored seven points to go along with four rebounds, an assist, a steal and a blocked shot over 14 minutes in Friday's game against the Spurs. Davis appeared to be heading for a big drop in minutes with Brandan Wright (groin) back in action, but Wright aggravated his injury and was forced back to the shelf. It's uncertain if Wright will need to miss more time, but if so Davis could find himself right back in the mix for the primary backup job behind Marc Gasol, retaining fantasy value in deeper leagues.

Ben McLemore    G  Grizzlies

Ben McLemore finished with a season-high 14 points in Friday's game against the Spurs. McLemore also chipped in with two rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot while hitting 5-of-8 from the floor, and 2-of-2 from behind the arc. There's something about playing the Spurs that agrees with him, as he posted 12.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game in the home-and-home. It is his first time posting double-digit points in back-to-back games this season.
