Grizzlies News

Chandler Parsons    F  Grizzlies

Chandler Parsons started Wednesday's game in place of Tyreke Evans (hip), finishing with 12 points on 4-of-12 shooting, two 3-pointers, five rebounds and two assists in 27 minutes. Interim coach J.B. Bickerstaff said his team looked "hesitant" offensively to begin the game, due to Tyreke's absence, but that's an understatement. They finished the first half with 29 points total, and finished the game shooting 38.3% as a team. Parsons' 27 minutes marked a season-high, and there's a good chance he'll get a DNP during back-to-back games Friday and Saturday.

James Ennis    G/F  Grizzlies

James Ennis played 24 minutes off the bench on Wednesday, scoring seven points on 3-of-4 shooting with four boards, one assist and one steal. Tyreke Evans (sore right hip) was out of commission tonight, so Memphis turned to a platoon of players including Ennis, Andrew Harrison (30 minutes), Ben McLemore (23 minutes) and Mario Chalmers (22 minutes). Ennis has been efficient lately, with minutes in the mid-20s, but his usage is simply too low (12.2 percent) to help typical fantasy owners.

JaMychal Green    F/C  Grizzlies

JaMychal Green picked up 15 points and a season-high 15 rebounds on Wednesday, hitting 6-of-13 shots with three 3-pointers, two assists and four turnovers in 37 minutes. Interim coach J. B. Bickerstaff said after Monday's ugly loss, "The effort wasn’t there. To a man ... we didn’t give the fans what they deserved tonight." His team was dreadful offensively in the first half tonight, scoring just 29 points in the first half, but they rallied after halftime in a tough 93-87 road loss. Green was a big part of the comeback effort, but he's been nowhere near standard-league fantasy value over the past month.

Andrew Harrison    G  Grizzlies

Andrew Harrison scored a season-high 20 points in a losing effort on Wednesday, making 6-of-9 FGs and 7-of-8 FTs with seven assists, three rebounds, one steal and one 3-pointer in 30 minutes. Mike Conley (Achilles) was out again tonight and it's unclear when he'll return -- he's stated that he won't play until he's 100 percent healthy, and as the losses mount Memphis has even less incentive to rush him back. Harrison barely missed multiple career-highs tonight and he's quietly crept onto the fantasy radar as steals-and-assists specialist. He outplayed Mario Chalmers again tonight, too, and is making a compelling case for minutes on a listless Grizzlies team.

JaMychal Green    PF  Grizzlies

Green recorded 15 points (6-13 FG, 3-4 3Pt), 15 rebounds and two assists across 37 minutes during a 93-87 loss to the Wizards on Wednesday. Green picked up his first double-double of the season in the loss as he also knocked down a season-high three three-pointers. Green has been receiving plenty of minutes lately, but still hasn't been able to put up anything past average numbers. He is worth keeping an eye on, though, due to his usual heavy workload.

Chandler Parsons    SF  Grizzlies

Parsons provided 12 points (4-12 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and two assists across 27 minutes during a 93-87 loss to the Wizards on Wednesday. Parsons received the start with Tyreke Evans (hip) sidelined and as a result played a season-high 27 minutes and shot a season-high 12 field goal attempts. If Evans is forced to miss more time, Parsons would be one of the main beneficiaries. If his workload suddenly increases, he could be a decent provider of three-pointers, rebounds and assists.

Chandler Parsons    F  Grizzlies

Andrew Harrison, Dillon Brooks, Chandler Parsons, JaMychal Green and Marc Gasol will start against the Wizards on Wednesday. With Tyreke Evans (hip) out, the Grizzlies will still keep Mario Chalmers on the bench. There will be a ton of offense going through Gasol in this game and Chalmers should still see his minutes get extended after being held in check this month.

Tyreke Evans    SG  Grizzlies

Evans is dealing with right hip soreness and has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Wizards. Evans reportedly experienced the discomfort during pregame warmups and the Grizzlies don't want to risk putting any additional strain on it, so he'll get the night off Wednesday. The fact that it's just soreness should mean it's nothing overly serious, though tentatively consider Evans questionable for Friday's matchup with the Hawks as well. With Evans sidelined, Mario Chalmers and Andrew Harrison should get the bulk of the work at point guard, with Dillon Brooks and Ben McLemore potentially seeing a few extra minutes in the backcourt as well.

Tyreke Evans    G/F  Grizzlies

Tyreke Evans (hip) will be held out against the Wizards on Wednesday after experiencing right hip soreness during his pregame warm-up. This is the same hip issue that put him on the injury report last week, but this will be Evans' first game out of the lineup this season. The good news is that this isn't to his oft-injured knees, but it's a little troubling anytime we see Evans sitting out. While he's out, Mario Chalmers may have to pick up some extra run while Andrew Harrison has to back him up. Ben McLemore should also be looking auto over 20 minutes in this game.

Marc Gasol    C  Grizzlies

Marc Gasol is not planning on asking Memphis management to trade him. "I have a responsibility to this city," Gasol said. "I'm not gonna quit, no matter what... as long as [owner] Robert [Pera] wants me here, my teammates want me here, they think I'm part of the solution -- and not part of the problem -- that's all I need." GM Chris Wallace has also indicated that the Grizzlies are not looking to move their franchise center, despite losing 15 of their last 16 games, although Gasol did say he would accept a trade if management felt it would be best. If he stays in Memphis this season, he could be a shutdown risk later in the year if they're not a playoff team.
