Grizzlies News

Mario Chalmers    G  Grizzlies

Mario Chalmers hit 5-of-9 shots and a 3-pointer for 15 points, three rebounds and one steal in 25 minutes of Tuesday's loss to the Clippers. He might have played even more minutes if he wouldn't have been in foul trouble, while Kobi Simmons played just three minutes in this one. This came out of nowhere, as Chalmers played just 13, 15 and 22 minutes in his last three games, as Simmons had been coming on. Chances are this was a fluke, as Chalmers hadn't scored in double figures since Dec. 15, so just keep an eye on him in case the Grizzlies are ready to turn back to him for some reason.

Marc Gasol    C  Grizzlies

Marc Gasol played 36 minutes, but hit just 3-of-10 shots and was 0-for-3 from downtown for 11 points, five rebounds, five assists, a steal and no blocks in a loss to the Clippers on Tuesday. Gasol got his coach fired earlier this season, but is in a bad funk right now, scoring 11 or fewer points in three of his last four games. He did have 27 points against the Warriors on Saturday, but has otherwise been struggling. The minutes were there tonight and he got a heavy dose of DeAndre Jordan, but Gasol has been a letdown over the last week. He should have a good matchup against Marcin Gortat on Friday so maybe he'll bounce back on national TV that night.

Jan 03 - 1:10 AM

Ivan Rabb    PF  Grizzlies

Rabb was assigned to the G-League on Tuesday. Rabb has yet to earn a role in the Grizzlies' regular rotation, playing a total of three minutes over the team's last six games. For that reason, he'll head to the G-League, where he'll see extended playing time and have the opportunity to work on his overall development.

Chandler Parsons    SF  Grizzlies

Parsons (knee) will not play Tuesday against the Clippers. This will mark the third consecutive absence for Parsons, who continues to be plagued by lingering knee injuries. His next opportunity to return will be Friday against the Wizards.

Fantasy Alarm

Jan 01 - 8:09 PM

Mike Conley    G  Grizzlies

Mike Conley (left heel/Achilles) will not play vs. the Clippers on Tuesday. Conley was ruled out for "at least" another two weeks on Dec. 18. We've reached the two-week mark, of course, so hopefully Memphis will provide a substantive update in the next few days. For what it's worth, he put in an "extensive" post-practice workout on Friday and has been ramping up his activity lately.

Jan 01 - 7:54 PM

Chandler Parsons    F  Grizzlies

Chandler Parsons (right knee soreness) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game vs. the Clippers. This is Parsons' third straight DNP and getting ruled out a day in advance is never encouraging. Memphis doesn't play again until Friday, when they host the Wizards, so maybe they're playing it safe with that home game as a target. Until Parsons returns, expect his minutes to be split between Jarell Martin and JaMychal Green.

Jan 01 - 7:50 PM

Marc Gasol    C  Grizzlies

Gasol totaled seven points (3-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 0-2 FT), three assists, two rebounds and four blocks across 24 minutes in Sunday's 114-96 win over the Kings. A night after poured in 27 points against the Warriors, Gasol was much less active in what turned out to be a relatively comfortable win for the Grizzlies. It was his lowest scoring tally since he'd mustered six points back on Oct. 28 versus the Rockets, while his minutes were actually his fewest of the season. With the atypical clunker now behind him, Gasol will look to bounce back against the Clippers in a favorable matchup on Tuesday night.

Fantasy Alarm

Jan 01 - 7:41 PM

Deyonta Davis    C  Grizzlies

Davis registered 10 points (5-7 FG), nine rebounds and one assist across 24 minutes in Sunday's 114-96 win over the Kings. The 21-year-old has now strung together three double-digit scoring efforts while seeing his minutes and rebound totals climb in each of those contests. Davis had only reached double digits in the scoring column once this season prior to the current stretch, however, so his fantasy value, which remains limited to fairly deep formats, remains speculative until he can prove his consistency over a larger sample.

Fantasy Alarm

Jan 01 - 7:36 PM

Jarell Martin    PF  Grizzlies

Martin supplied 11 points (5-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt), two assists, one rebound, two steals and one block across 24 minutes in Sunday's 114-96 win over the Kings. The backup forward continues to be productive off the bench, with Sunday's effort marking his third with double-digit points in the last four games. Martin has shot extremely well over that span, posting success rates between 50.0 and 80.0 percent. The recent surge is notable in that Martin had generated just three double-digit scoring tallies in the 31 games prior to the current stretch.

Fantasy Alarm

Jan 01 - 7:32 PM

Tyreke Evans    SG  Grizzlies

Evans provided 26 points (10-16 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 1-1 FT), seven rebounds, five assists and one steal across 26 minutes in Sunday's 114-96 win over the Kings. Evans made the most of his modest minutes in the double-digit win, posting his fourth effort of at least 25 points in the last five contests. The 28-year-old closed out December by shooting at least 50.0 percent in three of those games as well, as he continues to see elevated usage with Mike Conley (Achilles) sidelined. Given his sizable offensive role, his fantasy stock projects to remain high even when the Conley returns to action.
