Grizzlies News

Kobi Simmons    G  Grizzlies

Kobi Simmons played just three minutes and failed to score in Tuesday's loss to the Clippers. Simmons came in kind of hot, playing between 17 and 31 points in his previous four games and had a career-high 17 points on Dec. 30. There were no reports of an injury and he was pulled after missing a shot and never re-entered the game. Maybe the Grizzlies just wanted to get a pulse check on Mario Chalmers, but given how bad they are this season, the hope is that they'll keep giving Simmons minutes. Hopefully he's back to 20 minutes against the Wizards on Friday.

JaMychal Green    F/C  Grizzlies

JaMychal Green hit 4-of-7 shots and 4-of-8 free throws for 12 points, six rebounds, two assists, three steals and a block in 22 minutes on Tuesday. This was actually an efficient line for Green, but he simply hasn't been very good this season and hasn't been worth owning in fantasy. Leave him on the waiver wire until he starts doing this on a regular basis.

Wayne Selden    G  Grizzlies

Wayne Selden played in his second straight game of the season on Tuesday and hit 5-of-8 shots and two 3-pointers for 13 points, four rebounds and one assist in just 14 minutes. He missed most of the season with a quad injury and despite playing limited minutes in both of his recent games, he's scored in double figures in both of them. Just keep an eye on him if you're in a deep league in case he's able to keep this going. But he'll need to see more minutes than he's gotten thus far in order for that to happen.

Mario Chalmers    G  Grizzlies

Mario Chalmers hit 5-of-9 shots and a 3-pointer for 15 points, three rebounds and one steal in 25 minutes of Tuesday's loss to the Clippers. He might have played even more minutes if he wouldn't have been in foul trouble, while Kobi Simmons played just three minutes in this one. This came out of nowhere, as Chalmers played just 13, 15 and 22 minutes in his last three games, as Simmons had been coming on. Chances are this was a fluke, as Chalmers hadn't scored in double figures since Dec. 15, so just keep an eye on him in case the Grizzlies are ready to turn back to him for some reason.

Marc Gasol    C  Grizzlies

Marc Gasol played 36 minutes, but hit just 3-of-10 shots and was 0-for-3 from downtown for 11 points, five rebounds, five assists, a steal and no blocks in a loss to the Clippers on Tuesday. Gasol got his coach fired earlier this season, but is in a bad funk right now, scoring 11 or fewer points in three of his last four games. He did have 27 points against the Warriors on Saturday, but has otherwise been struggling. The minutes were there tonight and he got a heavy dose of DeAndre Jordan, but Gasol has been a letdown over the last week. He should have a good matchup against Marcin Gortat on Friday so maybe he'll bounce back on national TV that night.

Ivan Rabb    PF  Grizzlies

Rabb was assigned to the G-League on Tuesday. Rabb has yet to earn a role in the Grizzlies' regular rotation, playing a total of three minutes over the team's last six games. For that reason, he'll head to the G-League, where he'll see extended playing time and have the opportunity to work on his overall development.

Chandler Parsons    SF  Grizzlies

Parsons (knee) will not play Tuesday against the Clippers. This will mark the third consecutive absence for Parsons, who continues to be plagued by lingering knee injuries. His next opportunity to return will be Friday against the Wizards.

Mike Conley    G  Grizzlies

Mike Conley (left heel/Achilles) will not play vs. the Clippers on Tuesday. Conley was ruled out for "at least" another two weeks on Dec. 18. We've reached the two-week mark, of course, so hopefully Memphis will provide a substantive update in the next few days. For what it's worth, he put in an "extensive" post-practice workout on Friday and has been ramping up his activity lately.

Chandler Parsons    F  Grizzlies

Chandler Parsons (right knee soreness) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game vs. the Clippers. This is Parsons' third straight DNP and getting ruled out a day in advance is never encouraging. Memphis doesn't play again until Friday, when they host the Wizards, so maybe they're playing it safe with that home game as a target. Until Parsons returns, expect his minutes to be split between Jarell Martin and JaMychal Green.

Marc Gasol    C  Grizzlies

Gasol totaled seven points (3-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 0-2 FT), three assists, two rebounds and four blocks across 24 minutes in Sunday's 114-96 win over the Kings. A night after poured in 27 points against the Warriors, Gasol was much less active in what turned out to be a relatively comfortable win for the Grizzlies. It was his lowest scoring tally since he'd mustered six points back on Oct. 28 versus the Rockets, while his minutes were actually his fewest of the season. With the atypical clunker now behind him, Gasol will look to bounce back against the Clippers in a favorable matchup on Tuesday night.
