Hawks News

Paul Millsap    F  Hawks

Paul Millsap posted 27 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals, one block and five turnovers in a losing effort on Wednesday, as the Hawks fell behind 2-0 in their first-round series vs. the Wizards. Personal fouls were a huge theme in this game, with a total of 55 fouls called, and Millsap wound up shooting 14-of-15 from the FT line. His pseudo-rivalry with Markieff Morris should only serve as more motivation and he's a strong DFS option -- he's averaging just 11.0 field goal attempts through two games in the series, but is now a combined 23-of-26 from the charity stripe.

Thabo Sefolosha    G/F  Hawks

Thabo Sefolosha returned to Atlanta's rotation on Wednesday, but he played just four minutes to finish scoreless without any stats to his credit. Mike Budenholzer said after Game 1 that it's hard to squeeze Sefolosha into his rotation, which already has 10 reliable players, but he gave the veteran some early minutes tonight. Sefolosha wasn't seen again in the second half, however, so we're assuming he's still not part of the rotation.

Apr 19 - 10:09 PM

Dennis Schroder    G  Hawks

Dennis Schroder scored 23 points during Game 2, going 8-of-21 from the field and 6-of-8 from the line with six assists, four rebounds and one steal. Schroder committed one turnover in 38 minutes tonight, which is great, but he also went just 1-of-8 from downtown. The Hawks as a team shot 4-of-20 from deep, and 41.0 percent overall, which won't cut it against the Wizards' potent offense. Inefficiency aside, Schroder has been solid for DFS in the playoffs while averaging 24.0 points, 7.5 assists, 3.5 rebounds and 1.0 steals.

Taurean Prince    F  Hawks

Dennis Schroder, Taurean Prince, Tim Hardaway Jr., Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard are starting again on Wednesday for Game 2 against the Wizards. This starting lineup was destroyed in Game 1, turning in a woeful -52.4 net rating in their 12 minutes together. This lineup wasn't used in the fourth quarter, so another bad game could cause a change for Game 3.

Tim Hardaway Jr.    G/F  Hawks

Mike Budenholzer said he has no intention of altering his starting lineup for Wednesday's Game 2 against the Wizards. It sounds like the Hawks will again go with their standard starting group of Dennis Schroder, Tim Hardaway Jr., Taurean Prince, Paul Millsap and Dwight Howard for Game 2, with Kent Bazemore coming off the bench. Hardaway Jr. struggled with his shot during Atlanta's Game 1 loss, connecting on just 2 of his 11 shot attempts, so he'll need to be much better on Wednesday night for the Hawks to have a chance of stealing a game on the road.

Thabo Sefolosha    G/F  Hawks

Mike Budenholzer confirmed that Thabo Sefolosha was a healthy DNP-CD on Sunday. "It’s good to know that Thabo is there and I’m sure he’ll have a role and he’ll stay ready," Budenholzer said. "To go more than 10 deep is not easy but he’s a heck of an option to have at 11." Taurean Prince started alongside Tim Hardaway Jr. on Sunday, with Kent Bazemore and Mike Dunleavy earning minutes off the bench, so there's no clear spot for Sefolosha in the rotation.

Dennis Schroder    G  Hawks

Schroder scored 25 points (8-16 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 6-6 FT) while adding nine assists, three rebounds and a steal in 36 minutes during Sunday's 114-107 Game 1 loss to the Wizards.

Thabo Sefolosha    G/F  Hawks

Thabo Sefolosha picked up a DNP-CD during Sunday's Game 1 loss to the Wizards. Sefolosha is out of the rotation in Atlanta right now, and that might not change anytime soon, so he can't be relied upon in fantasy hoops at the moment.

Apr 16 - 5:10 PM

Kent Bazemore    G/F  Hawks

Kent Bazemore (right knee bone bruise) scored 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting Sunday, to go with three rebounds, three assists, two 3-pointers, one block and one turnover in 28 minutes. Bazemore missed seven of Atlanta's final 13 games of the regular season due to the bruised knee, but his right knee was a complete non-issue during this one, and it would be shocking to see him spend any additional time on the sidelines.

Apr 16 - 5:08 PM

Dwight Howard    C  Hawks

Dwight Howard hauled in 14 rebounds during Sunday's Game 1 loss, adding seven points, one assist, one steal, one block and one turnover in 29 minutes. The Wizards went with a lot of small ball lineups to try and make things uncomfortable for Howard, and that strategy worked. D12 didn’t really have any plays called for himself, more so being tasked with cleanup duty on the boards, and that’s likely the role he’ll have during this first-round series.
