Hawks News

Taurean Prince    F  Hawks

Taurean Prince scored 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting during Sunday's Game 1 loss to the Wizards, adding two 3-pointers, six rebounds, one assist and two turnovers in 32 minutes. Prince was quiet for most of the game, but then he caught fire during the fourth quarter of action, scoring 10 of his 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting. With Prince scoring 14 points in his postseason debut, he became the first Hawks' rookie to score at least 10 points in his playoffs debut since Al Horford.

Paul Millsap    F  Hawks

Paul Millsap went 5-of-8 from the field and 9-of-11 from the charity stripe on his way to 19 points during Sunday's Game 1 loss to the Wizards. Scoring wasn’t much of an issue for Millsap in this one, as he was ultra-aggressive at getting to the charity stripe, but unfortunately, he wasn’t really able to bring any other supporting stats to the box score. He should be able to bounce-back with a more robust stat line in Game 2.

Tim Hardaway Jr.    G/F  Hawks

Tim Hardaway Jr. couldn't get his shot to drop during Sunday's Game 1 loss, going 2-of-11 from the field and 3-of-5 from the line on his way to seven points in 28 minutes. Hardaway Jr. got into some early foul trouble and just never really got going in this one, but he averaged 18.0 points against Washington during the regular season, so he should be able to bounce back during Game 2.

Apr 16 - 4:59 PM

Dennis Schroder    G  Hawks

Dennis Schroder scored 25 points on 8-of-16 shooting during Sunday's Game 1 loss to the Wizards, adding nine assists, three rebounds, one steal, three 3-pointers and two turnovers in 36 minutes. Schroder's left foot was not an issue at all, so there's no reason to expect him to miss any more time moving forward. He was also a perfect 6-of-6 from the charity stripe in this one, giving him a sterling true shooting percentage of 67.1 on the evening, which was particularly impressive with how well John Wall defended him. It'll be interesting to see if this efficient trend continues in Game 2.

Apr 16 - 4:46 PM

Dwight Howard    C  Hawks

Wizards coach Scott Brooks said he will use the "Hack-a-Dwight" strategy if necessary. "That definitely could be in effect, depending on the game and our foul situations. There's no secret that he shoots 50 percent from the free throw line," Brooks said. "But also we have to check the temperature because there have been some games where he's made some, or more than his average. If we get in a bad position, we would rather wrap him up and get him to the line rather than give him the open layup." In case it needs to be said, there's always a slight risk to using Howard in DFS when the "Hack-a-Dwight" strategy is on the table.

Kent Bazemore    G/F  Hawks

Kent Bazemore (right knee bone bruise) will play in Game 1 on Sunday vs. the Wizards. In case you missed it, Bazemore is going to come off the bench with Tim Hardaway Jr. and Taurean Prince getting the nod in the first unit. He missed seven out of the final 13 games of the regular season because of his knee, and since he's coming off the bench, his minutes will likely be limited to the 20s.

Dennis Schroder    G  Hawks

Dennis Schroder (left foot) will play in Game 1 vs. the Wizards on Sunday. He was listed as probable on the injury report and missed two games in April, but he will be a full go for the playoffs. As previously mentioned, Schroder had a tough time against the Wizards during the regular season with averages of 15.3 points, 4.0 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 triples on 38.2 percent shooting.

Kent Bazemore    G/F  Hawks

Kent Bazemore (right knee bone bruise) is probable for Game 1 on Sunday vs. the Wizards. Bazemore is expected to play, but the Hawks are going to bring him off the bench this afternoon -- it's already been confirmed that Tim Hardaway Jr. and Taurean Prince will start on the wings. If his role in April was any indication, Bazemore will likely see minutes in the 20s during this series.
