Jazz News

Rudy Gobert    C  Jazz

Rudy Gobert (knee) didn't miss a shot during his return on Sunday, going 6-of-6 from the field for 15 points, 13 rebounds, two blocks and one assist as the Jazz defeated the visiting Clippers in Game 4. Gobert made a surprisingly quick return from a hyperextension and bone bruise in his left knee, running and jumping without any apparent limitations. Quin Snyder said before the game that Gobert's minutes would be dictated by fatigue, but he was almost certainly on a 24-minute limit since he sat out down the stretch of a tight playoff game. Hopefully his minutes will increase during a crucial game in L.A. on Tuesday.

Dante Exum    G  Jazz

Dante Exum made his playoff debut on Sunday with three points and one assist in 12 minutes of action. The Jazz struggled to contain Jamal Crawford and Raymond Felton tonight, even after coach Quin Snyder went to Exum over guys like Shelvin Mack (five minutes) and Raul Neto (seven minutes). Exum played well but his role isn't certain for Game 5 -- it's hard to trust him unless Snyder explicitly says he's earned reliable minutes.

Apr 24 - 12:25 AM

Rodney Hood    G/F  Jazz

Rodney Hood started the second half of Sunday's game in place of Gordon Hayward (food poisoning), finishing with 18 points, four rebounds, one assist, one steal and zero turnovers in 35 minutes. Hayward gets one day off before Game 5 on Tuesday, but there's a chance Hood will be asked to make another fill-in start. He made 6-of-15 FGs and 3-of-4 FTs tonight, with a 3-of-5 mark from downtown, resulting in his highest-scoring game since Mar. 29. Hood has battled knee injuries all season and the Jazz can't be keen on playing him 32+ minutes consistently, but it all comes down to Hayward's availability.

Apr 24 - 12:21 AM

Joe Johnson    G/F  Jazz

Joe Johnson was incredible in 35 minutes on Sunday, making 12-of-17 shots to score 28 points with two 3-pointers, five rebounds, five assists and one steal during a series-tying victory vs. the Clippers. The veteran scored 12 straight points to erase a late deficit and his contributions were the difference in the game, especially with Gordon Hayward ruled out early due to food poisoning. Johnson continues to have an amazing postseason, averaging 19.3 points and 1.5 threes through four games, including his memorable buzzer-beater in Game 1. Johnson's performance tonight was his most impressive yet, and Utah's decision to add him on a two-year, $22 million contract looks better than ever.

Apr 24 - 12:20 AM

Derrick Favors    F/C  Jazz

Derrick Favors shifted to the bench with Rudy Gobert (knee) active on Sunday, posting 17 points on 7-of-10 FGs and 3-of-6 FTs, with six rebounds, two steals, one assist and zero turnovers in 24 minutes. Favors averaged 34.3 minutes in the first three games of the series out of necessity, but that workload clearly took a toll on him. His scoring declined in each game and he simply didn't have it in Game 3 on Friday, scoring two points in 38 minutes of action. He looked rejuvenated tonight, expending more energy in fewer minutes, which is the best-case scenario for Utah's frontcourt.

Apr 24 - 12:18 AM

Joe Ingles    G/F  Jazz

Joe Ingles handed out 11 assists during Sunday's thrilling Game 4 win, adding eight points, two 3-pointers, six rebounds, two steals and one block in 38 minutes of action. Ingles' dimes were more than any Jazz player had all season. He'll be a restricted free agent this summer and he's significantly boosted his stock during the playoffs, averaging 8.5 points, 2.0 triples, 4.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.0 steals. He's an interesting DFS option given his high playing time and moderate price, especially if Gordon Hayward (illness) is still limited on Tuesday.

Derrick Favors    F  Jazz

Favors will come off the bench for Sunday's Game 4 matchup against the Clippers, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Gordon Hayward    F  Jazz

Hayward has succumbed to the food poisoning that he had been battling all day and will not return to Sunday's Game 4 against the Clippers, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Gordon Hayward    F  Jazz

Hayward is dealing with food poisoning but will play during Sunday's Game 4 against the Clippers after taking an IV most of the day, radio voice of the Jazz David Locke reports.

Gordon Hayward    G/F  Jazz

Gordon Hayward (food poisoning) will not return to Sunday's game, finishing with three points and two rebounds in nine minutes. Hayward was on IVs due to food poisoning prior to the game, although he wasn't on the injury report and it was only reported minutes before tip-off. He checked out earlier than usual in the first quarter and soon headed to the locker room, after which the team eventually ruled him out for the night. We'll consider him questionable to play in Game 5 on Tuesday, and his absence means more minutes for Joe Johnson, Joe Ingles and Rodney Hood.
