J.J. Barea    G  Mavericks

J.J. Barea said he was happy to finish the regular season healthy. Barea played in just 35 games in 2016-17 due to a nagging calf injury. "Personally, it was tough. I’ve never went through what I went through this year," Barea said. "But I was able to finish healthy. I’m going to be able to have a good summer, and I’m going to really work more on my body than basketball." The Mavs have a crowded backcourt, but Barea should be able to carve out a consistent role in 2017-18 if he can stay healthy.

Seth Curry    G  Mavericks

Seth Curry (shoulder) said he is still hoping to avoid surgery on his shoulder. "The doctors and the trainers test it out, and I’ll go hard throughout the summer and over the next month to see how it feels when it’s getting banged on and stuff like that," Curry said. I’m not too worried about it. I’m confident that we’ll figure out what the problem is and get it right going into next season." The Mavs want to get a look at Curry as a point guard, but he should get playing time regardless.

Yogi Ferrell    G  Mavericks

Dallas coach Rick Carlisle hinted that he's not ready to commit to Yogi Ferrell as his starting point guard for next season. "Time will tell," Carlisle said. "I do like Yogi in our franchise, on our roster. He certainly has proven that he can be a rotation player in this league. We didn't have a good record. At this point in time, projecting exactly where he's going to be is not really fair. I love him as a competitor. He's grown each and every day, each and every game. I'm just really thrilled we have him here." Ferrell said he believes he's a starting point guard, but added that he will accept any role he is given. It's too early to project his role for 2017-18, but Ferrell likely earned a spot in the rotation after averaging 11.3 points, 4.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 1.7 triples.

Devin Harris    G  Mavericks

Devin Harris said that he wants to continue playing in the NBA and that he is not retiring. The Mavs have a $4.4 million team option on Harris for the 2017-18 season and have not yet informed him if they will exercise the option. The Mavs have Yogi Ferrell, Seth Curry and J.J. Barea under contract for next season, so they do have some depth at point guard. Harris, who turned 34 back in February, averaged 6.7 points and 2.1 assists while shooting a career-low 39.9 percent from the floor last season.

Nerlens Noel    F/C  Mavericks

Nerlens Noel said he hopes to add 15-20 pounds of muscle this offseason. Expect to hear similar sentiments expressed by many players in their exit interviews, as adding muscle is a popular offseason refrain. Noel weighed in at 220 pounds last season, so he could put on some weight, but he's also been injury prone so would need to be careful not to bulk up too much. Noel will be a restricted free agent this summer, and the Mavs plan on bringing him back; it's just a question of what kind of deal he can fetch on the open market, forcing Dallas to match.

Dirk Nowitzki    F/C  Mavericks

On Thursday, Dirk Nowitzki officially announced he would return for the 2017-18 season, and also said he may play even longer than that. Nowitzki turns 39 in June, but apparently still feels he has plenty left in the tank. "I have to see how the body responds next year," Nowitzki said. "If I feel like this, like I did at the end [of this season], I think I can play another [season] after that, but I’ll just leave all that open." Dirk averaged 14.2 points and 6.5 rebounds in 26.4 minutes this past season and is just 1,160 points from passing Wilt Chamberlain for fifth place on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

Seth Curry    G  Mavericks

Curry won't require offseason surgery on his left shoulder, but will likely need a month of rehab to recover from the injury, Earl K. Sneed of Mavs.com reports.

Dirk Nowitzki    F/C  Mavericks

Dirk Nowitzki confirmed that he will return for his 20th NBA season. Not only will he honor the final year of his contract, but he also left open the possibility of playing a couple more seasons. Nowitzki will be 39 years old this summer and played 26.4 minutes per game this season, his lightest workload since his rookie season. He's still a legend in every sense of the word, but he will be a risky fantasy target in 2017-18.
