Seth Curry    G  Mavericks

Coach Rick Carlisle said that Seth Curry (leg) won't return until February at the earliest. Curry has yet to appear in a game this season, and it sounds like he won't make his debut anytime soon. He'll first need to be cleared for contact, and then begin practicing with the team before he gets close to game action. He should be left on the waiver wire in all re-draft leagues.

Coach Rick Carlisle indicated Tuesday that Curry (lower leg) will remain sidelined until February at the earliest, Earl K. Sneed of the Mavericks' official site reports. Curry, who continues to recover from a stress reaction in his left tibia, has yet to make his season debut with the Mavericks. Yogi Ferrell, J.J. Barea, and Devin Harris will continue seeing extended minutes in his ongoing absence.

Dorian Finney-Smith    SF  Mavericks

Finney-Smith (knee) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Nuggets, Earl K. Sneed of the Mavericks' official site reports. Finney-Smith remains without a timetable for a return and will continue to be evaluated on a game-by-game basis, but it doesn't look like the small forward is on track to play any time soon. The Mavericks will have off until Saturday following the conclusion of Tuesday's contest, but chances are Finney-Smith will remain out until he is able to start practicing again.

J.J. Barea    PG  Mavericks

Barea has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Nuggets due to a groin injury, Eddie Sefko of the Dallas Morning News reports. The exact injury is unclear at this time, but it appears Barea tweaked his groin at some point during Saturday's overtime loss to the Lakers. His absence Tuesday may be precautionary, especially considering the Mavs have a few days off before Saturday's matchup with the Blazers. In Barea's absence, expect Yogi Ferrell and Devin Harris to pick up a few extra minutes.

J.J. Barea    G  Mavericks

J.J. Barea (groin) is listed as out for Tuesday's game vs. the Nuggets. This is coming from the team's game notes, but his owners should go ahead and have a backup plan ready. Keep in mind that Dallas has just two games total this week. Dennis Smith Jr., Yogi Ferrell and Devin Harris will all get a bump with Barea expected to sit out.

Dennis Smith Jr.    G  Mavericks

Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said Dennis Smith Jr. has been "earning his minutes" lately. "It's a very precise game, and when you have the ball that much you are going to be in situations where you have to make decisions and make plays -- and he's learning a lot about those kinds of things," Carlisle said. DSJ has played more than 30 minutes just five times since the start of December, but he's now done that three games in a row with averages of 19.3 points, 4.0 assists, 3.6 rebounds, 1.0 steals, 1.0 blocks and 1.6 triples in just under 35 minutes per game. His fantasy arrow is finally pointing straight up.

Dennis Smith    PG  Mavericks

Smith supplied 23 points (8-19 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three assists, two rebounds, and one steal in 39 minutes during Saturday's 107-101 loss to the Lakers. Smith has scored in double figures during eight straight showings, and he has earned 30-plus minutes in each of the last three tilts. Through 36 appearances, Smith has now seen at least 30 minutes on 13 occasions. However, with the Mavericks falling out of the playoff picture (and fast), Smith may be afforded a longer leash by coach Rick Carlisle over the last 38 contests of 2017-18.

Yogi Ferrell    PG  Mavericks

Ferrell finished with 11 points (5-14 FG, 1-10 3Pt), 10 rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 43 minutes during Saturday's 107-101 loss to the Lakers. Ferrell produced his second double-double of 2017-18, both of which have surprisingly been with points and boards. Over the last three games as a starter alongside Dennis Smith, Ferrell is averaging 16.0 points (on 54.5 percent shooting), 7.3 rebounds, 3.3 threes, 3.0 assists, and 0.7 steals in 37.3 minutes. Veteran point guards J.J. Barea and Devin Harris may cut into Ferrell's minutes on certain nights, and Ferrell's shooting percentages will level out over time. Nevertheless, he'll remain a useful option in most fantasy formats if he keeps getting this much tick.

Harrison Barnes    F  Mavericks

Harrison Barnes scored 17 points on 7-of-21 shooting Saturday to go with one 3-pointer, five rebounds, three assists, two steals and one turnover in 39 minutes. Barnes got off to a sluggish start in this one, but he really started to get going during crunch time, rocking a 37.0 usage rate during the fourth quarter and banking in a tough shot with six seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime. The shooting wasn't pretty, but we'd expect a more efficient outing on Tuesday in Denver.

J.J. Barea    G  Mavericks

J.J. Barea did not play during the second half on Saturday after aggravating a groin injury, finishing with five points, one 3-pointer, three rebounds, three assists and one turnover in 19 minutes. Rick Carlisle said he had "no idea" on the severity of Barea's injury after the game, so he's likely headed for an MRI. That said, groin injuries can be tricky, so it wouldn't be surprising at all to see this result in an extended absence for the 33-year-old veteran, and if he does need to miss time that would open up minutes for Dennis Smith Jr. and Yogi Ferrell. The Mavs take on the Nuggets on Tuesday, so we should get another update on Barea in the intervening days.
