Mavericks News

Harrison Barnes    SF  Mavericks

Barnes registered 25 points (9-13 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists and one block across 35 minutes in Wednesday's 115-11 victory over the Hornets. Barnes led his team to victory Wednesday night, posting a team-high in points and rebounds. Aside from his double-double, his efficiency is also noteworthy as it was his best shooting performance (69 percent) on the season, so all signs point up for Barnes in upcoming games, especially if he moves to power forward, where he played Wednesday night.

Maxi Kleber    PF  Mavericks

Kleber was a late scratch out of the starting lineup and will instead come off the bench, Mavericks radio play-by-play announcer Chuck Cooperstein reports. The Mavericks originally reported that Kleber would start as usual, but made a last second swap and added Yogi Ferrell to the top unit in what appears to be a smaller lineup. Kleber, as a result, will head to the bench and could see a slight drop in his overall workload.

Yogi Ferrell    PG  Mavericks

Ferrell will start Wednesday's game against the Hornets, Mavs play by play voice Chuck Cooperstein reports. The Mavs initially confirmed that they'd use their regular starting lineup but at the last second announced that Ferrell will get the nod over Maxi Kleber, as Harrison Barnes shifts to power forward and Wes Matthews moves to small forward.

Yogi Ferrell    G  Mavericks

Yogi Ferrell has been inserted into the starting lineup Wednesday vs. Charlotte, replacing Maxi Kleber. Yogi is coming off one of his best games of the season. He tallied 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists in 33 minutes in Tuesday's win over Orlando. He also started the second half of this contest. Ferrell has started 14 games for the Mavs previously this season and, averaging 11.8 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 33.5 minutes across those 14 starts.

Maxi Kleber    F  Mavericks

Maxi Kleber will come off the Mavericks' bench on Wednesday. Rick Carlisle made the switch to start Yogi Ferrell at halftime on Tuesday and it sparked the Mavs to a win vs. Orlando, so he'll stick with what's working. Kleber was already scuffling along as a liability in most leagues, so he's an easy guy to cut.

Jalen Jones    F  Mavericks

The Mavs have claimed free agent F Jalen Jones off waivers, according to Shams Charania of Yahoo! Per Yahoo! analyst Bobby Marks: "Jones waiver claim would be the first time a player on a Two-Way is claimed. Dallas now inherits his NBA days of service remaining for the rest of the season. Jones is under contract for next season." This has no fantasy impact, as Jones will likely spend most of his time in the G-League.

Kyle Collinsworth    G  Mavericks

The Mavericks have waived G Kyle Collinsworth. Dallas made the move to open up a roster spot for Jalen Jones, but there's no fantasy spin to this news as Collinsworth was a negligible part of the rotation.

Jalen Jones    SG  Mavericks

Jones has been claimed off waivers by the Mavericks, Shams Charania of Yahoo Sports reports. His contract is two-way, so he'll spend most of the season in the G-League. Prior to being waived by the Pelicans, he appeared in four NBA games, totaling five points in 19 minutes. In 17 G-League appearances, he's averaged 19.2 points and 7.1 rebounds across 29.6 minutes per game.

Yogi Ferrell    G  Mavericks

Yogi Ferrell hit 6-of-9 shots and two 3-pointers for 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists in 33 minutes off the bench on Tuesday. This was Ferrell's highest scoring game since before Christmas and he combined with Dennis Smith Jr. and J.J. Barea to help the Mavs' backcourt dominate the Magic tonight. Barea added eight points and tied his season high with 12 assists in the win. We'd still rank the three Smith Jr., Barea and then Ferrell, but Yogi looked good after scoring six points in each of his previous two games.

Dennis Smith Jr.    G  Mavericks

Dennis Smith Jr. hit 8-of-19 shots and two 3-pointers for 20 points, seven rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block in 34 minutes of Tuesday's 114-99 win over the Magic. He also made both his free throws and finished the game on the court, which hasn't been happening much these days. He did a lot of his damage late in the fourth quarter with the Mavs holding a commanding lead, but it was also good for his confidence. He's scored in double figures in six straight games and this was his first game with an attempted free throw where he didn't miss at least one since November. He's coming on, averaging 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.5 steals over his last six games.
