Nuggets News

Jamal Murray    G  Nuggets

Jamal Murray led the Nuggets to a 103-84 win over the Pistons on Tuesday, scoring a game-high 28 points on 11-of-19 shooting. The Nuggets were using Murray off the ball a ton tonight and were playing to his strengths as a catch-and-shoot player. He had 13 points alone in the third quarter to put this game out of reach, adding four rebounds, three assists, one block and four 3-pointers. He's been all over the place this season, but nights like this show why he's worth being patient with. He may have some more touches coming his way as well with Will Barton picking up a lower back contusion.

Kenneth Faried    F/C  Nuggets

Kenneth Faried picked up a DNP-CD on Tuesday vs. the Pistons. Faried has been outplaying Mason Plumlee lately and was coming off two straight games with 30+ minutes, but you never know what coach Mike Malone is going to do with his rotations on any given night. This time around, Plumlee had a nice double-double and was a +29 in his 29 minutes, but it does help Faried's case that Darrell Arthur was exposed as the backup center by Boban Marjanovic. With Nikola Jokic (ankle) still out, Faried's owners should expect to see him back in the rotation on Wednesday vs. Boston.

Will Barton left Tuesday's game vs. the Pistons with an apparent back issue.

Nikola Jokic    F/C  Nuggets

Coach Michael Malone said Nikola Jokic's ankle is still quite swollen but that Jokic is moving better and "getting closer" to returning. Jokic has been ruled out of Tuesday's game and it appears he is likely to miss Wednesday's matchup with the Celtics as well. The Nuggets next game after that is Friday at home vs. the Pelicans. Kenneth Faried, Trey Lyles and Mason Plumlee will continue to divvy up minutes in the middle while Jokic remains sidelined.

Nikola Jokic    C  Nuggets

Jokic (ankle) will remain out Tuesday against the Pistons, Gina Mizell of the Denver Post reports. There was some hope that Jokic would be able to return Tuesday, but he'll ultimately miss his sixth consecutive game as the Nuggets continue their six-game road swing. Denver his 2-3 without Jokic in the lineup, and at this point it's unclear if he'll have a realistic chance to return for Wednesday's matchup with the Celtics in Boston. Following that contest, the Nuggets are off Thursday before playing host to New Orleans on Friday.

Nikola Jokic    F/C  Nuggets

Nikola Jokic (ankle) will not play on Tuesday vs. the Pistons. This will be his sixth game in a row on the shelf and it's a little worrying that he's getting ruled out a full day before a game once again. After Tuesday, the Nuggets have one more game on the road in Boston on Wednesday before returning home to face the Pelicans on Friday. Kenneth Faried and Trey Lyles have both made some noise in Jokic's absence, while Mason Plumlee has been relevant as well. As usual, it's impossible to predict what coach Mike Malone's rotations will look like.

Will Barton    SF  Nuggets

Barton collected 21 points (8-19 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), nine assists, six rebounds and two steals in 44 minutes during Sunday's 126-116 loss to the Pacers. Barton received the start again Sunday, playing a whopping 44 minutes. With both Paul Millsap (wrist0 and Nikola Jokic (ankle) on the sidelines, Barton continues to see additional time, be it as a starter or off the bench. The lineup seems to be based on the matchup, so predicting whether he will start is anyone's guess. Nonetheless, he should continue to see minutes in the 30's, even after Jokic returns. He should be owned in all leagues and provides scoring as well as chipping in across the board.

Trey Lyles    PF  Nuggets

Lyles finished with 25 points 9-15 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and one steal in 26 minutes during Sunday's 126-116 loss to Indiana. Lyles turned in a gem Sunday, scoring a career-high 25 points in the process. He most certainly flashed his upside, as he saw additional run due to the lingering injury to Nikola Jokic. He has had some nice games since Jokic went down but has also added some duds. He is worth a look if you are after some short-term value, but will likely regress upon Jokic's return.

Jamal Murray    G  Nuggets

Jamal Murray (right calf tightness) posted 13 points, one rebound, one assist, one steal and one block in 27 minutes vs. the Pacers on Sunday. Murray started this game despite his calf injury, which limited him to 17 minutes on Friday, so it was nice to see the playing time increase. More boards and dimes would have helped, but he made up for it with defensive stats and efficiency -- he hit 4-of-7 FGs, 2-of-4 triples and 3-of-3 FTs. We've yet to see him really explode this season, but he's holding steady as a late-round value.

Mason Plumlee    C  Nuggets

Mason Plumlee played 21 minutes in another start on Sunday, posting seven points, nine boards, three assists, one steal and one block. It could have been worse, but Plumlee is still hurting most fantasy owners even with Nikola Jokic (ankle) out of commission. The biggest problem is his awful free throw shooting. He was 1-of-3 at the line tonight and is shooting 39.7% on the season, on 2.8 attempts.
