Paul George    G/F  Pacers

The Atlanta Hawks offered four first-round picks in exchange for Paul George at the trade deadline in February, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN. We don't have any details as to which players were involved to make the salaries match, or what type of protections were on the picks, but it was obviously a significant offer. The Pacers remain in a bind with regards to George. They would obviously prefer to keep their franchise cornerstone long term, but run the risk of losing him for nothing if he signs elsewhere as an unrestricted free agent in July of 2018. It will be one of the more interesting subplots to follow over the next few months and into next season.

Paul George    G/F  Pacers

Paul George did not make an All-NBA team on Thursday. This is bad news for the Pacers. If George did earn the All-NBA distinction, the Pacers could've tried to sign him to a super-max deal worth $207 million over five years. Now, the Pacers won't have much of an edge to bring him back compared to the other teams. This news makes it even more likely George is gone next summer, so the Pacers may also be dropping their asking price in a trade.

Paul George    G/F  Pacers

Paul George finds out if he's eligible for the designated player exception on Thursday night. In order to qualify for the exception, George must be selected to the first, second or third All-NBA teams. If George is selected to one of the teams, he will be eligible to receive a five-year deal from the Pacers worth around $210 million compared to $180 million if he doesn't. The rumors about George's future have been heating up and the Lakers are said to be a serious threat to pry him away from Indiana, but other teams can only offer George a four-year deal for around $133 million unless they acquire him in a trade.

Lance Stephenson    G/F  Pacers

Pacers' GM Kevin Pritchard implied that Lance Stephenson will have an increased role in Indiana next season. "Lance’s energy, and having two unique athletic wings in this business is a luxury, and I think we can build on that," said Pritchard. "As he gets more healthy, as he gets better in shape, we’re going to ask more of him." Stephenson came off the bench when he was signed late in the year, but Nat McMillan hinted he'll consider starting him next season. Born Ready put in averages of 13.8 points, 7.2 boards, 4.6 assists and 1.1 triples per game during his last season in Indiana three years ago, so he might be someone to consider spending a late-round pick on.

Larry Bird    C  Pacers

The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Larry Bird is stepping down as the Pacers president of basketball operations. Kevin Pritchard will take over basketball operations in Indiana. Woj says that "Bird is expected to continue on as a consultant, working with Pritchard and the Pacers front office." It will be interesting to see if this has any impact on Paul George's future with the Pacers.

Lance Stephenson    G/F  Pacers

Pacers coach Nate McMillan said he's "open" to the idea of Lance Stephenson starting at shooting guard next season. Stephenson may have saved his career after his move back to the Pacers, and after a solid finish to the regular season, he was even better in the playoffs with averages of 16.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 0.5 steals and 1.8 3-pointers on 50.9 percent shooting. "We really needed that boost, that energy, that kind of passion," McMillan said. Still only 26 years old, Stephenson has an excellent chance to hit the ground running in 2017-18.

C.J. Miles    G/F  Pacers

C.J. Miles is unsure if he will opt out of his contract and become a free agent this summer. Miles has a player option worth $4.8 million for the 2017-18 season. "I haven’t made a decision yet, but I’ll sit down with my agent in the next couple of days," Miles said after the Pacers were eliminated by the Cavs on Sunday. "If it does happen [opting out], it’s not solely because I’m trying to get out of here. It’s a business decision." With the salary cap rising this summer, Miles will be able to make more than $5 million on the open market. Thus, it's safe to assume he will opt out.

Paul George    G/F  Pacers

The Sporting News is reporting that Paul George has told former teammates that his long-term intention is to play for the Lakers. George was born and raised in southern California and rumors continue to surface that he wants to return there and play for the Lakers. The Pacers will have to make a difficult decision this summer: If George is unwilling to sign a long-term extension with Indiana, do they trade him for a package of coveted assets, or play out next season and take the chance he leaves via free agency in July fo 2018?

Jeff Teague    G  Pacers

Jeff Teague said he would like to re-sign with the Pacers this summer. The 28-year-old PG will be an unrestricted free agent and should be able to command a nice raise. "I love Indiana," Teague said. "You all know me, born and raised, tattoos on my arm. I’ve wanted to play for the Pacers my whole life. It’s a great opportunity for me and I love to be here." Sticking around in Indiana would be great for his fantasy value, as he was a top-45 standard league asset with averages of 15.3 points, 7.8 assists, 1.1 triples, 1.2 steals and 2.6 turnovers per game on 44.2 percent shooting this season.
