Spurs News

Kawhi Leonard    G/F  Spurs

Kawhi Leonard was incredible during a 110-108 overtime loss to the Grizzlies on Saturday, scoring a playoff career-high 43 points with eight rebounds, three assists, six blocks and seven 3-pointers. His fourth quarter was one for the ages, scoring the Spurs' final 16 points in regulation. The Grizzlies were throwing doubles at him for most of his halfcourt sets and coach David Fizdale mentioned he pulled out all the stops to try and stop him. "I'm taking suggestions on how to guard Kawhi Leonard," Fizdale said after the game. Leonard's offense has been unreal in this series as he matched his playoff career-high 32 in Game 1, set a new career high in Game 2 with 37, and followed that up with this explosion. He did struggle a bit in overtime with some offensive mistakes, so maybe he is human after all. Regardless, this is Exhibit A for anyone who wants to argue Kawhi is the best player in the NBA.

Tony Parker    G  Spurs

Tony Parker bounced back in Game 4 against the Grizzlies, scoring 22 points with four rebounds, five assists, one steal and two turnovers in 37 minutes. Those 37 minutes were by far the most he's played all season and in the playoffs. Parker hasn't hit the 32-minute mark since Jan. 10, so coach Gregg Popovich went into uncharted waters. After his zero-point, 19-minute game on Thursday, the Spurs have to be satisfied Parker was able to produce.

Apr 22 - 11:32 PM

David Lee    F/C  Spurs

David Lee made a spot start on Saturday, finishing with eight points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal in a loss to the Grizzlies. He was not very good in the starting lineup, posting a -15 in the +/- stat. Dewayne Dedmon should feel better for Tuesday's Game 5, so expect Lee to move back to his role of minutes in the teens. He did not score in Game 3.

Apr 22 - 11:17 PM

Danny Green    G/F  Spurs

Danny Green made 2-of-9 from the field for five points with one rebound and one block in 26 minutes against the Grizzlies on Saturday. When Bad Danny Green shows up, you're going to notice. It wasn't just about his bad shooting line, he was also not the same defensive player. Green still saw a good amount of minutes in this game, but he may have a shorter leash in Game 4 on Tuesday.

Dewayne Dedmon    F/C  Spurs

Dewayne Dedmon (illness) will not play against the Grizzlies in Game 4 on Saturday. Dedmon has been starting and played 12.7 minutes per game in this series, so it's not the toughest hole to fill. The Spurs will likely divide those minutes to Pau Gasol, LaMarcus Aldridge and David Lee. Davis Bertans could also be an option as the last man in the rotation, or maybe they go with more Kyle Anderson.
