Suns News

T.J. Warren    F  Suns

The Suns are convinced they can play T.J. Warren next to Josh Jackson. This isn't surprising to hear and coach Earl Watson said he thinks Jackson can play all five positions. Tucker has also played shooting guard, small forward and power forward with the Suns, so it makes sense on his end. However, it may be tough to start both with Devin Booker, Eric Bledsoe, Marquese Chriss and whoever they start at center as four of their starting five. It could make sense to bring Warren off the bench, which would hurt his fantasy value.

Josh Jackson    F  Suns

Coach Earl Watson believes Josh Jackson can play all five positions for the Suns. The quotes were flying in Phoenix on Friday. The 6'8" forward also threw his hat in the ring for Player Hater of the Year. "Oh I'm gonna hate everybody but the Phoenix Suns, don't worry," Jackson said. Also, the Celtics may also not like Jackson because general manager Ryan McDonough hinted that he and Jackson's people formulated a plan to skip the workout for the Celtics "playing by the rules." In other words, it sounds like Jackson preferred to go to Phoenix because of his playing time on a young team rather than go to a team where he knew he'd be down the depth chart. Expect Jackson to get 24-30 minutes out of the gate and make a fantasy impact.

Alec Peters    F  Suns

The Suns' No. 54 pick was used on Valparaiso PF Alec Peters. Peters played four seasons in the NCAA and he was outstanding on his way to the Horizon Player of the Year, averaging 23.0 points, 10.1 boards, 2.2 assists, 0.4 blocks and 2.0 treys on a 60.8 true shooting percentage. However, his season ended on a down note with a stress fracture to his right leg and he wasn’t able to do much at the Draft Combine, but he did register a 6’11" wingspan with his 6’10" height. Phoenix has too many young, talented forwards to expect much from Peters this year.

Davon Reed    G  Suns

The Suns selected Miama guard Davon Reed with the No. 32 pick. A 6’6" wing out of Miami, Reed averaged 14.9 points, 4.8 boards, 2.4 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.4 triples on 43.3 percent shooting as a senior. Reed was projected to be a late second-round pick, but his age was likely a factor. He boasts a 7'0" wingspan and projects to be a 3-and-D player at the NBA level -- he shot 39.7 percent from deep and made the All-ACC Defensive Team. With the Suns rebuilding, Reed could see some minutes off the bench behind Devin Booker and T.J. Warren during his rookie season.

Josh Jackson    F  Suns

The Suns drafted small foward Josh Jackson out of Kansas with the No. 4 pick in the NBA Draft on Thursday. The Jayhawk was widely viewed as the best high school recruit last year thanks to his 6’8" size and explosive style of play. Jackson could eventually grow into a small-ball four, but he will need to be a better screener and likely put weight on his 203-pound body. Jackson did make just 56.6 percent of his free throws last year, but he was able to knock down 37.8 percent of treys and 38.1 percent of his jump shots. He'll have to compete with guys like T.J. Warren and Derrick Jones Jr. for playing time in Phoenix, which will likely dampen his fantasy potential in his rookie season.

Eric Bledsoe    G  Suns

The Suns and Bulls have reportedly discussed a trade involving Eric Bledsoe and the No. 16 pick. It's unclear what the Bulls would be giving up in this scenario, and we've heard enough variations on this theme to be skeptical -- less than an hour ago it was reported that Chicago was "looking at other things [than the Suns offers] for now." Bledsoe has also been linked to the Nuggets in a package for Emmanuel Mudiay and a draft pick, so there are multiple scenarios in play.

Marquese Chriss    F  Suns

Marquese Chriss has come up in trade discussions in a potential deal for Kristaps Porzingis, sources told ESPN's Ian Begley. Begley makes it sounds like the Suns have made varying offers, so it's not necessarily the case that Chriss, Dragan Bender and the No. 4 pick—all of which have reportedly been on the table—have all been presented as a package deal. Nonetheless, no agreement is close and time is working against interested suitors in their desire to chase The Unicorn.

The Suns reportedly have no trades planned involving the No. 4 pick, according to David Aldridge. The Suns reportedly discussed including the pick in a three-team deal, or possibly packaging the pick with Eric Bledsoe for a star player, but it doesn't look as though that will happen. If Phoenix does keep the pick, they'll have plenty of talent to choose from.

Eric Bledsoe    G  Suns

The Suns have reportedly talked to the Bulls about a trade involving Eric Bledsoe, but Chicago is "looking at other things for now." Phoenix may be trying to package Bledsoe with the No. 4 pick to acquire a big-name player, according to Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times. It doesn't sound like the Bulls would part with Jimmy Butler for that package, but the Suns are looking at a variety of options involving Bledsoe -- they've also discussed a deal that would send Bledsoe to Denver in exchange for Emmanuel Mudiay and the No. 13 pick.
