Suns News

Alex Len    C  Suns

Len (ankle) is out for Wednesday's contest against the Mavericks. Len was originally questionable heading into Wednesday's contest due to right ankle soreness, but the injury is apparently causing him enough discomfort to keep him out of the game. In his stead, Tyson Chandler, Greg Monroe and Marquese Chriss (ankle) are all candidates to see expanded roles.

Marquese Chriss    F  Suns

Marquese Chriss (left ankle) is questionable to play Wednesday vs. Dallas. Right after getting back from the hip issue, Chriss went down with an ankle injury, and it looks like he could miss his second game in a row on Wednesday. If he's out, Dragan Bender will get another start, but he's been too inconsistent to trust in most leagues. Chriss isn't worth hanging onto through the injury in most 12-team leagues.

Alex Len    C  Suns

Alex Len (ankle) is listed as questionable for Wednesday's game vs. Dallas. Len returned from a three-game absence on Monday and finished with 12 points and eight rebounds in 25 minutes. Tyson Chandler (rest) and Greg Monroe will be available for Wednesday's game, so we will have to wait and see which two centers are active.

Devin Booker    G  Suns

Devin Booker (ribs), Marquese Chriss (ankle) and Alex Len (ankle) are questionable to play Wednesday vs. the Mavericks. X-rays taken on Booker's ribs came back negative, so he's simply sore, but it wouldn't be all that shocking to see him spend another game on the sidelines tomorrow. If all these guys are out, Isaiah Canaan and Dragan Bender will get another chance to start, with Greg Monroe, T.J. Warren and Josh Jackson being asked to step it up on offense. Check back for another update following Wednesday morning's shootaround.

Devin Booker    SG  Suns

Booker (ribs) is hopeful to play Wednesday against the Mavericks. With X-rays on Booker's ribs returning negative Monday, it appears the 21-year-old was able to steer clear of a significant setback after sustaining the injury late in Sunday's loss to the Rockets. The rib contusion still prevented Booker from playing in Monday's loss to the Grizzlies, which resulted in Isaiah Canaan starting at point guard and backup Tyler Ulis logging most of the minutes at the position. If Booker makes it through morning shootaround Wednesday no worse for the wear, expect him to take back his spot as the Suns' starting point guard, sending Canaan back to the bench.

Davon Reed    SG  Suns

Reed had one assist in eight minutes during Monday's 120-109 loss to the Grizzlies. Reed, who had knee surgery back in August, made his second career appearance and recorded his first dime. He hasn't scored a point yet in 13 minutes, but through seven G League games Reed is averaging 10.9 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.3 threes, 1.0 block, and 0.6 steals in 25.7 minutes. Reed's ability to shoot the three and defend along the wing will likely help him earn a chance to shine with the Suns at some point. For now though, the 22-year-old rookie remains a young player with potential who's worth keeping an eye on for the future.

Tyler Ulis    PG  Suns

Ulis recorded 13 points (6-13 FG, 1-3 3Pt), seven assists, five steals, and one rebound in 31 minutes during Monday's 120-109 loss to the Grizzlies. Ulis had combined to play just 15 minutes over the last two games, both of which he came off the bench. Therefore, this was an especially encouraging performance, as Ulis had appeared to completely drop off the fantasy radar. He's still not a good option in most leagues, and that will be especially true once Devin Booker (ribs), who missed Monday's matchup, returns to the lineup. Nevertheless, it at least bodes well for Ulis that he was able to outplay temporary starter Isaiah Canaan so thoroughly on Monday. Furthermore, Ulis also managed a career high in steals.

Troy Daniels    SG  Suns

Daniels had nine points (2-8 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound, one assist, and one block in 23 minutes during Monday's 120-109 loss to the Grizzlies. Daniels was listed as questionable after injuring his back the day before, but he felt good enough to give it a go. As evidenced by Monday's stat line, Daniels isn't a well-rounded contributor. Nevertheless, he is among the few Suns who excels from beyond the arc, and he is averaging his most minutes per game here in January. Devin Booker (rib) probably won't be sidelined much longer, but Daniels could see a small boost if Booker remains out for Wednesday's matchup with the Mavericks.

Alex Len    C  Suns

Len collected 12 points (3-4 FG, 6-9 FT), eight rebounds, and one steal in 25 minutes during Monday's 120-109 loss to the Grizzlies. Len returned to the lineup following a three-game absence with a sore ankle, finishing as the only Sun with a positive Plus-Minus (Plus-5) in the loss. Veteran center Greg Monroe drew the start, but Len saw two more minutes than him. With the Suns so far removed from the playoff picture, it'd make sense for them to funnel more minutes to Len as the season continues. However, Len has been a model of inconsistency for years, so it might not be wise to trust him outside of deeper leagues.

Fantasy Alarm

Jan 30 - 5:53 AM

Isaiah Canaan    PG  Suns

Canaan posted four points (1-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, and three assists in 17 minutes during Monday's 120-109 loss to the Grizzlies. Canaan filled in as the starter at point guard for the injured Devin Booker (rib), though the previous full-time starter (Tyler Ulis) was much more effective, tallying 13 points, seven dimes, five steals, and one board in 31 minutes off the bench. Every once in a while Canaan is still capable of going off, but he's far too inconsistent to be relied on in most leagues.
